Love in the Lowcountry

Brooke + Christopher | Jun 1, 2019

Blue, white and neutral tones brought out all the love during this airy, timeless engagement session at Hunting Island State Park in Beaufort, South Carolina

When Brooke and Christopher met on prom night in high school, it didn’t matter that the two were going with different people. All it took was sharing the same limo and a slow dance to spark a love that would last a lifetime.

“I knew he was the one when I went away for college,” Brooke said. “That showed me his commitment to me and how much work he was willing to put into our relationship.

”On a graduation trip to Las Vegas, they shared a nice dinner to celebrate graduating college and their six-year anniversary. A photographer approached their table during the Bellagio's water fountain show and began positioning Brooke when Christopher got down on one knee.

“I turned around, shocked, started crying and said, ‘yes’ without a second thought,” Brooke recalled. “It turns out that he had been planning this for months and the photographer knew, which is why she was positioning me.”

Against the most gorgeous Lowcountry backdrop, Luxe by Lindsay Photography captured a series of natural, airy and timeless engagement photos. The natural light paired with the foamy blue ocean, lush green trees and historic, black and white lighthouse created the most romantic setting for the couple to celebrate their love.

“We wanted to have a shoot that was similar to who we are, and that included being outdoors and having fun,” Brooke said.

Brooke was a vision in a flowy dress with a white lace halter-neck top and sheer, navy blue high-low skirt, complete with a floral pattern. Her auburn hair cascaded down with natural beach waves, and the only jewelry she wore was her stunning engagement ring. For part of the day she wore a pair of navy-blue open thong sandals, but for most of the day she strolled barefoot.

Christopher complemented her look perfectly in a crisp, short-sleeve white button down and a pair of navy slacks. He completed his sleek yet casual look in a pair of navy shoes and timeless wayfarer eyeglasses.

Since the location speaks for itself, they only used the natural setting to bring their vision to life. The couple started by the beautiful fallen trees, with lush green palm trees lining the backdrop. They made their way over to the black and white lighthouse tower with stunning, historic details. Standing at the top of the staircase, they gazed into each other’s eyes and took in every second of a special moment.

“I love when I can see the couple's personalities and how they act with each other,” the photographer said.

Toward the end of the day, the photographer wrapped up the shoot by capturing more photos in the foamy white waves. The minimalist details truly brought out the couple and focused on their unwavering love for one another.

“My favorite detail and memory from the shoot was taking pictures in the water,” Brooke said. “It was a lot of fun and made the entire shoot more relaxed and filled with fun.”

The photographer had just as much fun capturing every moment, and everyone was completely immersed in bringing the vision to life!

“I had a blast with them,” said Lindsay. “As you can probably see, I was wading in the water, right along with them...and it got a bit choppy at one point, which was hilarious!”

Following a beautiful day full of smiles and laughter, the pair settled down to take in the scenery and the moment. Everything about this special shoot from the beauty of the locationto the creative vision brought out this easygoing couple’s pure, natural love.
