Traditional chapel ceremony followed by an elegant tented reception with greenery and ivory florals at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina
When Maryanna and Joe both moved to Atlanta over a decade ago, they had lots of mutual friends, so the two kept running into each other for years. Timing is everything, and according to Maryanna, “the stars aligned” when they finally started dating.
“He proposed in Napa, California during a sunset bike ride one afternoon in May,” said Maryanna. “It was perfect.”
On a fall evening in the Lowcountry, Maryanna and Joe said “I Do” during a traditional chapel ceremony, followed by a picturesque outdoor tented reception. The elegant, timeless decor was overflowing with simple greenery and cream florals.
“We had such a beautiful backdrop, so it was easy to blend into that with these colors,” said Maryanna.
Inside the bridal suite, Maryanna lounged with her precious pooch and bridal party, all in matching ivory robes. Her bridesmaids stunned in off-the-shoulder, stone blue chiffon gowns, which popped next to Maryanna’s ethereal wedding gown.
She wore an ivory, fit-to-flare gown with a tulle skirt and whimsical lace detailing. The illusion neckline featured a sweetheart bodice with tiny floral elements framing the sheer cap sleeves. There was a row of delicate buttons down the back, and she wore dainty pearl drop earrings.
“It was the last one I tried on and instantly knew it was the one,” said Maryanna.
Joe looked classically handsome in a bespoke navy suit and turquoise tie, while his groomsmen wore the suit in black, paired with a lavender tie. His boutonniere was a tiny arrangement of greenery and ivory roses - a version of the gorgeous bridal bouquet full of cream and ivory spray roses, garden roses, dahlias and more greenery.
“That was most of the decor - greenery and flowers,” said Maryanna.
Inside the chapel, the architecture and stained glass windows were truly remarkable. Needing little to no embellishment, they added small floral arrangements to the ends of pews, as well as larger arrangements at the altar with warm pops of fall colors.
Maryanna was a vision walking down the aisle, with a cathedral length veil pinned to her sleek blonde updo. At the altar, she and Joe held hands during a traditional service, full of sentimental moments and in the presence of their most loved ones.
When asked about her most special and anticipated part of the day, Maryanna said, “knowing we would finally be married and seeing his face as I walked down the aisle.”
Following the ceremony, and just before making their grand entrance at the reception, Maryanna and Joe slipped away for a private moment with the photographer. They posed for pictures outside by the water, while the setting sun painted the sky shades of pink.
“Having our pictures taken by the water right before sunset was very special,” said Maryanna, “away from the wedding reception for a few moments with my new groom.”
The reception set-up was truly enchanting, with the open-sided canopy tent letting in an abundance of natural light. There were garlands of greenery wrapped around the wooden poles supporting the structure, that cascaded down into the florals arrangements.
“We used lots of candles and flowers,” said Maryanna. “We had a square bar in the center to help with flow and break up the space with a big arrangement in the center.”
In the center of the bar, the large cast urn arrangement brought the space to life with coral roses, white hydrangeas, baby’s breath and fresh greenery. The table arrangements mirrored the centerpiece, and added a modern touch to the space with gold geometric stands.
Each tablescape was set with a sand-colored linen, infinity chairs, and a mix of taper candles and oversized floating glass candles. At the place settings, there was a burnt orange textured charger layered with pastel pink and white ceramic plates, topped with a deckle-edge menu and white hemstitch napkin.
Their classic, three-tiered white cake looked like a work of art on display in front of the elegant white bar. Guests sipped on bubbly in the lounge area, created in a separate space outside the tent with plush sofas and chairs. When the night sky rose, the market lights around the tent lit up the checkered dance floor - where the party really came to life!
“We had a great band - which makes any party fun,” said Maryanna.
After their loved ones gave them a magical sparkler send-off, Maryanna and Joe sped off into the night on the backseat of a charming golf cart.
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.!
