Luxe Meets an Edgy Garden

Mar 27, 2019

Black and gold colored styled shoot features luxurious and edgy feel filled with greenery at The Ivy Place in Lancaster, South Carolina

When you mix lush greenery and rolling hills of a venue with the luxurious feeling of gold accents and the edginess of black, you’ve got something totally unique and inspiring. This styled shoot was originally inspired by the backdrop of the venue which has more than 30 acres of gardens, hills, strawberry fields and vineyards.

“The rich greens of the gardens lent themselves to a beautiful landscape with edgy vibes of black and gold,” said the shoot’s photographer.

The bride had her hair pulled to the side in a low wavy pony. Coincidentally, the red tinted highlights in her hair worked perfectly with the edgy feeling. Her eye makeup was darker and very smoky, also another moody touch.

When she put on the dress, the whole look came together. The floral print on the tulle gown gave it that high end, luxurious feeling, while the low cut V-neck, V-shaped back and the caramel undertones gave it an edgier, more untraditional side. The bride’s tattoos were seen through the open and illusion back, adding even more of the edgy style to the look.

She walked outside with her greenery and white flower filled bouquet to one of the many greenery and nature filled picturesque spots on the grounds to meet her groom. He awaited her in an all black ensemble. From his pants to his vest to his shirt and tie, the all black look somehow felt luxe and moody all at once. The white flower with accenting greenery boutonniere he wore softened the look in the most perfect way possible.

Meanwhile, in another perfectly landscaped corner of the grounds, there was a wooden farmhouse table set up with wooden bistro chairs. In the center of the table it was as if a garden had sprouted.

There was a loose greenery sitting on top of a sheer table runner that draped off the table to the grass. Mixed in with the greenery were a few loose flowers leading up to one big centerpiece in the middle. The gold pedestal vase held a bouquet of loose flowing greenery, a few white flowers and two or three dark plum flowers. There were even little bundles of greenery at each place setting to tie it all together.

Surrounding the flowers were gold candlesticks holders with black taper candles. Who knew black candles were a thing, but we are glad they are for this shoot!

Each place setting was set with a gold charger topped with a white scalloped edge dinner plate and salad plate. The full silverware setting in gold added that high end vibe to the table. The green tinted crystal glasses were the final and finishing touch to the table.

After galivanting around the grounds, the bride and groom were ready to take their seats at the sweetheart table. There was another wooden farm table set with just two seats and a single floral arrangement. Instead, there was an emerald green table runner draped diagonally across the table and a trio of gold candle stick holders with black taper candles on each side.

The place settings had dark pewter chargers topped with a scalloped edge white dinner plate. Then an emerald green linen napkin with frayed edges separated the dinner plate from the white salad plate. There was the same full setting of gold silverware and also a trio of glasses. One was a gold rimmed champagne glass, one was a gold rimmed coupe glass and one was a dark green tinted crystal goblet. They all worked perfect together.

Across the way was a gold mirrored bar cart that served as the perfect cake table. The two tiered black cakehad gold dripping off the top and was splattered with gold all around. It matched the gold candlestick holders and black tapers decorating the space on the cart next to it. There were even a few black and gold painted macaroons on the cart, too.

After popping a bottle of bubbly – because why not on wedding day! – the couple watched as the sun faded away on what looked like an amazing and uniquely beautiful day!
