Anastasia Morrison + Bryan Castillo | Dec 17, 2016
“I love you, forever and always.” The words that truly define Anastasia and Bryan’s relationship were at the core of every aspect of their magical, winter wedding day with tons of personal touches.
This sweet couple’s love story began back in high school as friends. Their senior year, they started dating when Bryan brought her flowers and asked Anastasia to be his girlfriend. They were long distance throughout college at Clemson and University of South Carolina which was tough but they visited frequently and made it work.
After graduation, Anastasia started medical school and it was then that their relationship progressed to the next step. One day, she was about to go shopping and her sister handed her a pink envelope with her name on it that had a letter from Bryan and a photo of the two of them inside. Anastasia’s sister drove her to the spot where Bryan asked her out in high school, only to discover her best friend waiting with another letter and picture. From there she continued on a scavenger hunt to various locations that were significant to their relationship where other loved ones were waiting with bright smiles, teary eyes and more pink envelopes from Bryan. The hunt led Anastasia to “their spot” on Lake Wylie where Bryan was waiting for her on the dock. He took her hand, got down on one knee, and asked her “to make him the happiest man in the world by marrying him.” After she of course said yes, they joined back up with their friends and family to celebrate!
As the couple started planning, they knew they wanted simplistic yet beautiful décor paired with many personal touches to represent their relationship. Their wedding was in December so they selected a color palette of cranberry, blush and champagne gold to complement the winter feel. Since it was so close to Christmas, both their church and reception venue were already decorated with twinkling lights, candles and Christmas trees so it was easy to incorporate sparkly festive touches throughout the day.
They also carefully selected food (stations of their favorite foods) and music that would be representative of their love to travel and be with friends and family. Bryan’s heritage is Guatemalan so they integrated several Hispanic traditions into their Charlotte wedding to honor his family’s history as they become one, including a lasso ceremony during the ceremony.
The bride looked absolutely stunning in the Hayley Paige “Dori” dress with iridescent beading on the bodice paired with a cathedral veil, which was perfectly captured by Head Over Heels Wedding Photography. Underneath, she wore a custom garter embroidered with “A+B.” The bridesmaids were dressed in a range of colors and so the bouquets complimented this with their own gradient of colors that turned out beautifully. Bryan looked dapper in a fitted navy Calvin Klein tuxedo with wingtip Oxford shoes. His boutonniere had a small, silver etched picture of his grandmother who had recently passed away tied to it to keep her close to his heart on this momentous day.
The ceremony florals were a similar gradient to the bridesmaid’s bouquets while the reception flowers featured three different designs that truly tied their wedding theme together. With the help of Magnificent Moments Weddings, their day came together perfectly!
While every moment was oh-so-special, the moment with Anastasia walked down the aisle to marry Bryan was one that truly stood out:
“I think the most anticipated moment was when the church doors opened and Bryan first saw me as my dad walked me down the aisle,” said Anastasia. “We did a hidden first look and upheld the tradition of not seeing each other until the ceremony so it was the very first time that we saw each other that day. As the doors of the church opened, I was so excited to see so many of our loved ones that were there to celebrate with us, but all I could see was my groom at the altar. I felt my heart race and all I could do was smile while trying my best to hold back tears (very happy tears, of course)! Bryan was looking back at me, and as soon as he saw me, the sweetest expression of raw emotion and excitement spread on his face with tears in his eyes. That moment was even better than I could have ever imagined.”
Congratulations to the newlyweds whose best advice to other engaged couples is to “purposefully look out and take it all in.” We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
