A soft and organic styled shoot with blush and peach colors, and modern backdrop in the sculpture garden at Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, Georgia
When you’ve got a modern dress and you mix it with a modern sculpture garden at a modern art museum, the result is magical. Throw in the softness of peach and blush florals and the organic feel of greenery and it really creates something special.
This styled shoot was set in the sculpture garden of Georgia Museum of Art and was the perfect backdrop to match the inspiration behind this shoot: the dress.
"The soft femininity of the dress, combined with the structured and angular boning in the bodice, made for a perfect bridal mix next to the garden,” said the shoot’s planner.
The bodice of the dress was lace and flowed into an A-line silhouette skirt that just brushed the floor. The bride wore her hair in natural curls and down with a pin in one side to keep that organic feeling flowing through her look. Her shoes added to the modern style with their floral vine pattern and soft grey and blush color.
A similar floral vine pattern and blush color was also featured in the invitation suite which set the modern, soft tone for the day from the very start.
The groom kept his look soft by foregoing a tie and instead wore a simple white shirt, top button unbuttoned. His boutonniere added a modern touch to his classic black suit by using a whimsical, honeycomb like flower.
As the couple wandered the garden and museum, each backdrop only enhanced the soft, organic and modern style. From the greenery vines climbing the building in the garden to the blush art exhibit and white walls inside, the bride and groom fit right in.
“We chose this time of year to capture the trailing greenery down the mirrored front of the courtyard, and we love how the touches of nature sneak in between the grey structures and walkways,” the planner said.
A table for two was set on the stone courtyard in the center of the garden right in front of the vine and greenery covered windows. The rectangular table was draped in a textured stone colored linen and set with two mid-century modern white chairs.
In the center of the table was a simple arrangement of most greenery but a few complementing blush and peach blooms and some white candlesticks for a clean look.
“In an effort to keep it modern yet organic, we stuck with local greenery and simple statement blooms,” explained the planner.
Each place setting was set with a duo of simple white round plates, separated by a navy blue napkin. The salad plate was topped with greenery leaves and a white place card with blush calligraphy – one that said “his” and one that said “hers.”
Just as the couple sat down, a special guest showed up to join them. A black and white dalmatian made himself a cozy spot in front of the table to join his new parents at their first meal together as a family and our hearts totally melted.
The cake was then brought out and it was obviously as modern as modern wedding cakes get. The simple one tiered cake was decorated with a marble pattern and sat on top of a peach gauze linen. A few dainty florals topped the cake and added some texture to the look.
When it was all said and done, the couple walked away hand in hand, with their pup leading the way!
