New Year New Mr. and Mrs.

Elizabeth + Winston | Dec 31, 2018

Romantic and simple candlelit New Year’s Eve wedding at the industrial Forest Hall at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro, North Carolina

Elizabeth and Winston met in Florida while on vacation, and immediately Elizabeth knew there was something different. Since Winston is in the military, their courtship was long distance and full of romantic gestures. Like the time Winston flew across the country to have a cup of coffee with Elizabeth.

After only 29 days spent with one another, the couple took a leap of faith and decided to get married – on New Year’s Eve, none the less! The wedding was centered around faith, love, style and filled with so much candlelight.

“Their love for each other and their Christian faith created a unique bond that they just couldn't ignore,” said Kath from Amelya Jayne Photography.“So, although many miles apart they started their engagement and decided to have their wedding day on New Year’s Eve!”

The bride spent the morning getting ready surrounded by all her bridesmaids. Her hair was styled in a half up, half down twist and she forewent the tradition of a veil. But when she put on her dress, the veil wasn’t even missed.

Her gown had a plunging neckline, matching plunging back and even plunging side slits. The satin top and all tulle skirted bottom were broken up by the most amazing bejeweled belt that left a trailing ribbon down the back of the dress. Elizabeth’s all white floral bouquet was the only other accessory she needed.

Once she was dressed, the bride gathered all her bridesmaid to reveal her look. The girls, in all different types of long black dresses gathered together and as soon as they saw Elizabeth, every single one of them was speechless. They then huddled together for a moment of prayer before sending Elizabeth off to see her future husband for the first time all day.

Winston stood outside waiting in a trendy forest green suit, sleek black tie and pocket square. As Elizabeth walked closer, the anticipation grew greater and as soon as she put her arms around him from behind, they both let out a sigh of relief.

The couple spent some time enjoying their private moment together before the ceremony. Before heading their separate ways, only to see each other again at the ceremony, they did a religious foot washing ritual to honor their faith.

As Elizabeth joined her bridesmaids and Winston joined his groomsmen for a few moments before the ceremony, guests began to take their seats at the ceremony. Market lights lit the room from the top and candles lining the aisle lit the room from the floor. Together, they created the most romantic feeling room.

The black suited groomsmen found their way to the altar and were soon joined by the bridesmaids before the bride entered the room. As soon as Elizabeth started her walk down the aisle, everyone rose to their feet and Winston got the biggest smile on his face.

All the important religious aspects were included in the ceremony and before they knew it, the bride and groom shred their first kiss as husband and wife.

After the couple recessed down the aisle, all of the guests made their way into the reception. The industrial space was perfectly moody and hopelessly romantic with its dim lighting and natural décor. The exposed brick next to the large windows and the wooden beams in between the wooden farm tables was perfection.

There were long family style rectangular tables set in the room. The tables were lined with greenery and nothing else but candlelight. Each place setting had two matte white plates topped with a single strand of greenery. There was extra greenery and candles lining the window sills and pretty much anywhere there was space. It was so simple, in the best way possible.

Before taking their seats, since it was New Year’s Eve, guests were encouraged to leave well wishes and advice for the couple as a resolution for their new year together. Once everyone found their seats, Elizabeth and Winston made their grand entrance. As soon as they stepped out onto the dance floor, Bunn DJ Company played their selected song and they shared their first dance as husband and wife.

Dinner and dancing continued into the night and it was the best way anyone could have spent their last night of the old year!

Congratulations to the happy couple!
