Lauren Brown + Jordan Kirk | May 5, 2018
It started as a crush on the "foreign hottie," the nickname Lauren and her roommate (and maid of honor!) affectionally had for Jordan after seeing him around the complex. The two both ended up at the same college party and, although she knew exactly who he was, Lauren pretended she didn’t and played it cool when they officially met for the first time. They became friends but didn’t start dating until a year later when things finally clicked.
Six years later, it was time to take things to the next level! While on a weekend vacation to Asheville, North Carolina, Lauren and Jordan stayed at a bed and breakfast while exploring the local brewery scene. After enjoying entirely too much beer and delicious food, they headed back to the B&B where Jordan thought it would be nice to draw a bath to wind down. Unfortunately, he used way too many bubbles and he and Lauren ended up battling a mountain of foam and cleaning up a huge mess instead of relaxing. They laughed hysterically the whole time and when it was all over, Jordan began rummaging around a pile of clothes. Lauren asked what he was doing and then Jordan turned around with a gorgeous opal and diamond engagement ring in hand! Caught completely off guard, Lauren excitedly said “yes!” and the two spent the rest of the weekend celebrating!
As a nod to their brewery engagement, the two chose to say "I do" a tHi-Wire Brewing, the perfect location for their vision of "one big party." They loved the industrial feel of the space paired with soft, romantic touches of greenery, candles and market lights. Colorful crystals, eucalyptus and cacti in terra cotta pots added a natural element to the décor.
Lauren’s gown was stunning, steering clear of traditional with colorful embroidered flowers on the flowy tulle overlay. Of course, it paired perfectly with Jordan’s navy suit and burgundy bowtie. Their ceremony was personal, fun and sweet -- Jordan cried and had the whole place in tears!
After the beautiful ceremony, the reception was definitely the party that Lauren and Jordan wanted. Since their wedding day fell on Cinco de Mayo, margaritas were served during cocktail hour. But the food fun didn’t stop there; the couple had a funfetti cake covered in sprinkles, doughnuts and coffee, and a late-night snack of sliders and cheese fries. The night was perfect and Lauren and Jordan had the best time celebrating their love. As Lauren fondly shared, “the dance floor turned into a drunken circus of our friends moshing and laughing”, and they couldn’t have had a better time!
Their day was the perfect representation of true love and when asked her advice for future brides-to-be Lauren said, “I know getting married is a serious affair, but try not to take yourselves so seriously! Have fun with it. It's stressful, yes, but at the end of the day you're marrying the love of your life and celebrating the occasion with all of your favorite people!”
Congratulations, Lauren and Jordan! We’re so happy for you!
