Oysterfest Proposal and a Seaside Engagement Shoot

Jessi Johnson + Andrew Starnes | May 25, 2018

Life took Jessi and Andrew different ways but they found their way back together! They dated on-and-off for four years in high school before ending up in different places for college (Alabama and West Virginia). During their senior year of college, life finally synced up for them and the two rekindled their relationship.

While on vacation to Wrightsville Beach, Jessi and Andrew enjoyed the annual Oyster Festival with both of their families at Wrightsville Beach Brewery. Little did Jessi know but she was going to remember more than just the oysters from that day! Andrew put a gorgeous engagement ring inside an unschucked oyster, hoping Jessi would open it and find the ring. Her brother actually ended up finding it first but played it off and slid the oyster in front of Jessi. It sat there for a few minutes (there’s a video of Andrew anxiously waiting for Jessi to notice it!) until Jessi finally turned her attention to the special oyster. When she opened it, Andrew got down on one knee and asked Jessi to marry him, making her the happiest girl in the world!

Jessi and Andrew love visiting Wilmington, North Carolina so it was only fitting they took their engagement photos at the place they got engaged. Fort Fisher was the perfect location and the gorgeous water and sunset made for the most amazing photos! The couple strolled along the beach and surrounding areas and had the best time laughing and taking the cutest photos with Stephanie Axtell Photography. The two will be married in October 2019 in Asheville, and they couldn’t be more excited for the best that’s yet come!

Congratulations, Jessi and Andrew!
