Leeann + T.L. | Sep 29, 2017
Leeann first spotted T.L. and his cousin while at a local wine festival with her brother and sister-in-law. She found the courage to initiate the conversation with him, but he couldn’t find the courage to ask for her number. As luck would have it, the now couple ended up at the same restaurant after the festival and the rest is history.
After a year of dating, T.L. took Leeann on a surprise visit to another winery, inviting the same people to join them who were with them at the festival nearly a year earlier. Leeann didn’t think anything of it, since they often hang out with his cousin and her brother and sister-in-law, but it was no coincidence. With the same people around them on the day they met, T.L. got down on one knee and proposed to Leeann in the vineyard.
The couple planned their vintage glam wedding for September at a beautiful rustic venue in the Carolina mountains.
“Our goal was to stay true to our venue and setting in the North Carolina mountains by balancing rustic materials such as wood and burlap with more glamorous, feminine elements like tulle, chiffon and our venue's beautiful crystal chandeliers,” the bride explained.
Leeann and her girls got ready at the onsite bridal suite that overlooked the rolling hills. She had her hair in a “high-in front” updo for a more glamorous look that showed off her sparkly oversized teardrop earrings. Before she got dressed, her bridesmaids slipped into their floor length blush colored chiffon dresses and then helped Leeann into hers.
The mermaid style gown had an amazing illusion neckline with floral appliques and button detailing on the back. It was more than stunning.
“When I looked at myself in the mirror, the sleeveless dress and floral appliques felt so fresh and youthful, almost like I was lit up from the inside,” said the bride.
Once she was dressed, Leeann headed out to the perfect scenic spot for a private first look with her groom. T.L. stood beneath an oversized tree in his grey pinstripe tux. The look on his face was priceless when he saw his bride for the first time. Luckily for them, the whole moment was caught on video they can watch over and over again thanks to One Love Productions.
After their private moment, the couple separated again before the ceremony began as they waited for guests to arrive. When guests arrived, they were greeted by the sweetest welcome display set on a vintage dresser. There was an unplugged ceremony sign, guest book, parasols and a mini white wrought iron gate for guests to walk through to get to the ceremony site.
Once all the guests had arrived and everyone had taken their seats, the ceremony began. After the wedding party had taken their places at the front, Leeann entered the oversized white barn doors that were dripping with lightly colored blooms and greenery. Even though T.L. had already seen his bride earlier in the day, he couldn’t help but shed another tear as she walked toward him.
There were two wine barrels hold two oversized rose and eucalyptus arrangements where the couple stood and combined with the picturesque rolling hills behind them, we can’t imagine a better place to become husband and wife.
After exchanging their vows, the couple and their guests headed into the reception. The beautiful barn boasted crystal chandeliers hanging from the wooden ceiling beams, the entire barn was lined with cedar planks and there were personalized details everywhere.
“We used a color palette with shades of blush, soft beige and ivory to accent the natural wood features of the venue,” told Leeann.
Guests found their escort card that was displayed on a rustic wagon outside on the barn’s front porch and could grab a raspberry lemonade mimosa signature drink. Um, we’ll take two please!
Upon entering the barn, there was a childhood and family memory corner with childhood photos and memorabilia of the couple, photos to commemorate loved ones who have passed, and a station where guests could snap a mini polaroid and hang them up. After snapping and hanging their photo, guests went on to find their seats.
In the center of the barn was one long family style farm table with a neutral colored runner. On each side of the center table were round tables draped in a neutral linen that was then topped with a lace overlay. Every table had wooden crossback chairs and a tall floral arrangement made up of white hydrangeas, birch branches and larkspur. It was the perfect look to tie together rustic, vintage and the natural beauty of the barn.
Each seat was set with a hanging white linen napkin topped with a white dinner place and clear salad bowl. For the little ones, their place setting included a fun “kids box” to keep them entertained and we know there must have been some thankful parents!
The couple sat with their bridal party at a head table at the front of the barn. The head table was draped in a neutral linen and topped with a chiffon runner made by the bride’s mom. The table was lined with tall clear decorative vases, large short gold rimmed vases, hurricane vases filled with pillars and tons of votives.
The most unique part was the cutting cake that was placed in front of the bride and groom’s seat. We can’t imagine how convenient that must have been when it came time for cake cutting! The small partially naked cake was topped with a sweet gold wire heart and leaf design topped, also created by the bride’s mom.
Don’t worry, there was a whole other table dedicated for desserts! The dessert display was yet another masterpiece of the bride’s mother. From the lace tablecloth and signs to the platters and paper origamis, it almost looks too pretty to eat. But between the mini brownie bites and chocolate covered strawberries, there’s no way we’d be able to resist, that’s why we said almost!
Once the sun set, the barn’s garage door opened and revealed one of the bride’s favorite décor elements. A dance floor lit up with the most fun pink and white paper lantern and market lights. And underneath the lights, the couple shared their first dance as Mr. and Mrs.
After the couple shared their dance, the bride and her father had a special surprise planned for their dance.
My dad and I also planned a fun father/daughter dance that nobody else knew about,” explained Leeann. “Seeing my dad pull off all of his choreography while the crowd went wild is something that I will never forget.”
The surprise dance was the perfect way to kick off a night full of dancing and fun. And at the end of it all, the couple shared one last final kiss underneath those same lanterns as their family and friends surrounded them for a sweet sparkler send off.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
