Intimate, boho-chic wedding with blush pink and rose gold hues at Carriker Cottage in Mint Hill, North Carolina

Apryl was a bridesmaid and Mike was an usher at the same wedding in Charlotte, where he inquired about her through the groom. They mingled and made some small talk as they sipped on cocktails at the reception, and at the end of the night, Mike asked for Apryl’s number. A couple short months later, they had their first official date.

“We went out to dinner, we had an amazing conversation and really connected…” said Apryl, “the rest is history!”

Fast forward to Apryl’s annual family vacation, when unbeknownst to her, Mike arrived a day earlier to surprise her. He arranged an intimate dinner at their favorite restaurant, with both families and a few of their close friends. When Apryl arrived, each person at the table presented her with two long stem red roses.

“As I took my seat, Mike appeared with a bouquet of roses and a ring box in his hand,” said Apryl. “He got down on one knee, professed his love for me and asked me to be his wife in front of everyone at the restaurant!”

Originally, the plan was to tie the knot in beloved Charleston, SC, but due to the pandemic, they kept their original wedding date and opted for an outdoor cottage celebration with 15 close loved ones. The wedding was elegant and boho-chic, with soft and romantic elements inspired by nature and the beautiful outdoors.

“We were also inspired by the cottage,” said Apryl, “which reminded us of one of our favorite local places in Charleston.”

For her bridal look, Apryl exuded an ethereal essence in her gorgeous vintage-inspired wedding gown. It was figure-sculpting and had a strapless sweetheart neckline, a front slit, and a beautiful scalloped lace pattern with a contrasting tan lining. Her glam and accessories were kept simple yet elegant, with a bold apricot lip and crystal-embellished hairpiece in her loose waves.

“My bohemian-style wedding dress inspired the florals,” said Apryl.

Apryl was adamant that peonies were to headline the floral arrangements, so the florist created a breathtaking bridal bouquet full of soft pink and ivory peonies, blush and cream garden roses, and lush greenery for a total boho vibe.

“The florals played a very important part!” said Apyrl. “They were my favorite design element and we received many compliments on the florals.”

Keeping with their original color palette of blush pink and rose gold, the rest of the floral arrangements in the ceremony backdrop consisted of more ivory and blush garden roses, stock, lisianthus, snapdragons, ranunculus, massive white hydrangeas accented with Veronica flowers, and plenty of cascading greenery.

They held the intimate ceremony under the cottage veranda with towering wooden beams, draped in sheer voile fabric and florals. The altar was adorned with two more beautiful floral arrangements delicately tied to the beams, and their guests sat in gold Chiavari chairs tied with a blush side-swept bow chair sash.

Standing at the altar, Mike looked effortlessly dapper in a tailored beige suit, paired with a sky-blue dress shirt, off-white tie and a boutonniere made of a few white roses. He stood next to his father, who fulfilled a very important role during the service.

“We had a very special officiant...Mike’s father,” said Apryl, “who was Mike’s best man also!”

After their heartfelt ceremony, they hosted a dinner party at the cottage. The newlyweds sat at a sweetheart table and the setting offered a cozy atmosphere with a modern flair, complemented by the enchanting, forest-like landscape.

“We decided to postpone the reception until the weekend of our 1-year wedding anniversary,” said Apryl.

At the guests’ table, the ivory tablecloth was dressed up with tall, rose gold vases, garlands of greenery and floating glass candles. The tablescape featured place settings with a textured, rose gold-rimmed glass charger, layered with a small scalloped ceramic plate, blush linen napkin and mixed gold and rose gold flatware.

There was also a table displaying the couple's parent's wedding portraits, family group photos, and the couple’s photos, intimately surrounded by block letters spelling “LOVE.” On the dessert table, they had an elegant, two-tiered white wedding cake complete with floral garnishes and a metallic gold topper reading, “foreva, eva.”

Out in the lawn, Apryl and Mike danced around in each other’s arms - stopping to pose in front of the large circular structure covered in flowers and greenery. The wedding photographer captured each whimsical and intimate moment, until the very last dance.

“It really turned out to be the perfect place for us to host our family and friends for the weekend,” said Apryl.

We wish Apryl and Mike a lifetime of love and happiness!
