A Garden Wedding with an Open-Air Reception

Arielle Palladino + David Ballard | Apr 7, 2017

Arielle and David met in New York City at NYU's 7th Street Dorm in June 2008. Arielle was attending NYU and was working for the NYU Housing office over the summer; David was a rising senior at NC State, but was interning in NYC and living in NYU housing for the summer. The lived in the same dorm and quickly became friends. Friendship then turned into a sweet summer romance, and Arielle was heartbroken when David left at the end of the summer. The two maintained an off and on friendship for the next few years, until 2013 when the sparks were reignited! Dave was passing through NYC again that July, and took Arielle out to dinner for her 25th birthday. They decided to start dating and after 14 months of long distance, Arielle moved to Raleigh. Two years later, it was time to take their love a step further and David planned a surprise proposal at Wine & Design. Thinking they were going to a painting party for friend’s friend, Arielle was surprised when they were the only ones there and was even more surprised when David got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! She said “yes!” and to make things even better, both of their families ran into the room! Arielle’s family all lived out-of-state at the time, so it was an amazing surprise! The elated couple spent the whole weekend celebrating at their favorite Raleigh spots with their families – it was the perfect proposal!

Arielle and David had a gorgeous spring wedding at the Garden Terrace at Fearrington Village captured beautifully by Krystal Kast Photography. They envisioned a wedding that was romantic, intimate, cozy, and very inclusive. They wanted every special guest to know that they had played an exceptional role in the day so the couple included several personal and thoughtful touches. Arielle’s mother even officiated! Arielle and David knew they wanted a big focus to be on their flowers; they had unstructured, textured floral arrangements in shades of dusty rose, smoky mauve, white and burgundy, and they filled the space with greenery and flickering candles. Friends and family celebrated the happy couple by dancing the night away. As Arielle recalls, “The entire day was magical – it was filled with so much love and so much fun! Everything came together so perfectly. Every exciting moment rolled into another incredible memory.”

Congratulations, Arielle and David!
