Amy Walker + Richard Cagle | Jun 11, 2017
Amy and Richard met in 2009 when both were brought to North Carolina for various reasons. Richard had been living in Florida, but returned to his home state of North Carolina for the exciting career prospect of waiting tables. Amy was desperate to escape snow-blighted Syracuse and found herself in this same picturesque area, with the same immediate career goals. On one fateful day, out of all the franchise restaurants, in all the towns, in all the world, Amy walked into Richard's. He was one of the first people she met in North Carolina, and she quickly decided there was no reason to meet any more. Fast forward seven years, Amy and Richard were celebrating Labor Day weekend at the beach where, unbeknownst to anyone, Richard had an elaborate proposal planned. However, his plans were slightly foiled when Amy came down with a cold and spent most of the weekend in the hotel in a bathrobe combating major sniffles. No doubt enamored by her unwashed hair and bare feet, Richard could no longer contain himself and blurted out, "Will you marry me? No! Wait!", and then ran away. Richard returned revealing he had rushed away only to retrieve the engagement ring carefully stored in the hotel safe. Deducing that anyone who would propose to her in her current state really, really meant it, Amy delightedly accepted!
Amy and Richard's wedding was a beautiful celebration on a picture-perfect June day. Surrounded by their closest family and friends at Merry Hill in Mebane, North Carolina, they sealed their commitment to each other and enjoyed a lively celebration filled with lawn games like cornhole and badminton. The couple decided that all major decisions should be left up to their vendors and they completely relied on their professional judgment for everything from inspiration to theme. Overall, Amy envisioned a feel of “easy elegance” and her planner 100% delivered. Soft shades of blue and florals in different depths of color were perfectly accented by crystal table accents and a gorgeous open-air tent with twinkling string lights. From the lawn games to the ribbon-wand send off, Amy and Richard’s day was full of love, laughter, and beautiful memories together. Amy’s advice for the perfect wedding day? “Laugh. Laugh as hard and as long as you possibly can. Because in those moments where people are laughing together, there is magic. May you always be surrounded by magic.”
Congratulations, Amy & Richard!
