Romantic and Glamorous in the Mountains

Stephanie + Allan | Nov 3, 2018

Blush, navy and gold fall wedding with a glamorous style at The Crest Center and Pavilion in Asheville, North Carolina

Stephanie and Allan hit it off instantly at a bar in Charlotte after bonding over sports since they both played basketball in school. They quickly scheduled their second date for later that week and the rest was history.

Just over a year later, Allan planned a dinner date. Stephanie was immediately suspicious since she is usually the planner in the relationship. It turned out Stephanie had a club volleyball game that night and she found it strange that Allan was annoyed when she wouldn’t cancel.

Once she got home from the game, Allan rushed her to get showered and ready for their dinner. The whole night he was overly nervous so there was no surprise when he pulled out a ring and asked Stephanie to marry him. They finished their dinner and then went out to celebrate.

The bride had always dreamed of an outdoor fall wedding, so the couple planned their intimate day for November. And what better place for an outdoor fall wedding than the mountains?

“I definitely wanted a small, intimate affair with close friends and family,”said the bride. “I have always dreamed of an outdoor fall wedding because it’s my favorite season and I love when the leaves are changing colors.”

Stephanie spent the morning getting glammed up. She had her hair done in an elaborate twisted updo that showcased the amazing beaded high neck on her dress.

Finding the dress was like a real life, “Say Yes to the Dress”episode because Stephanie had actually traveled to New York City with some of her bridal party to visit the famous Kleinfeld Bridal.

“My mom and I love the show, so we decided to go for fun,”explained the bride. “I never thought I would actually find ‘the one!’”

Well, the one she found couldn’t have been more beautiful. On top of the beaded neckline, the form fitting sleeveless gown boasted a lace back with buttons and lace detailing throughout. Stephanie topped the look off with diamond chandelier earrings for an extra touch of glam.

Once she was ready, the bride headed outside to meet her groom for a private first look. Allan stood there looking handsome in his navy blue suit, picked out by the bride herself because that’s her favorite color on him. His blush bowtie added a pop of color to complete his look.

Not only did the couple meet for a first look, but they also took the time to share letters they wrote to one another that they planned to save and reread on their one year anniversary. Rob + Kristen Photography captured the couple’s favorite moment of the day perfectly.

“Seeing my now husband for our first lookand hearing what he wrote to me was one of the most special moments of our wedding day,”said the bride.

Stephanie grabbed her very girly and super romantic bouquet made of all blush roses, and her and Allan went to meet the rest of their bridal party for portraits before the ceremony.

The groomsmen all wore matching navy three-piece suits and blush ties, rather than bow ties, to give the groom some differentiation. The bridesmaids matched the groomsmen’s ties with a blush color palette. Each girl wore a different dress, some all blush, one all gold and one a mix. The gold mixed in really added to the glamorous feel. The ladies all carried bouquets similar to the bridal bouquet with blush roses but had a lot more accenting greenery.

The ceremony site began to fill with guests and everyone took their seats overlooking the mountains. There was a greenery arch and simple floral aisle markers on the first few rows. A chalkboard welcome sign greeted guests as they sat down.

“The wedding was outside overlooking the mountains in Asheville at sunset so you couldn’t ask for more of a picturesque setting, so as far as ceremony decorations not much was needed,”Stephanie said.

As the wedding party took their spots in front of the rolling hills backdrop, the flower girls sprinkled pink flower petals down the aisle. Stephanie and her dad appeared as everyone rose to their feet.

Allan took Stephanie’s hands and the ceremony began. The ceremony was short and sweet, exactly what they wanted. And remember those letters they read to one another during their first look? Well they incorporated those letters into a unity ceremony and locked them up with a bottle of wine they would then open on their one year anniversary and reread. Talk about sweet!

Once the couple sealed the deal with a kiss, everyone headed inside to the reception.

The pavilion reception site was filled with round guest tables and one extra wide head table in the center. The room was lined with Manzanitas wrapped with twinkle lights to create a romantic outdoor feeling inside. Even the ceiling was lined with twinkle lights to make it feel as if you were looking up at the stars.

Some tables were decorated with simple greenery, gold candle holders and loose blush petals, while others were decorated with the rose and greenery filled bridesmaid’s bouquets. Each place setting had a navy napkin with a North Carolina shaped cookie sitting on top for guests to enjoy.

Guests dropped their cards and gifts off, signed the engagement picture guest book and took their seats as they awaited the bride and groom’s grand entrance.

After soaking in the sweeping views and taking in the last little bit of sunlight on that gorgeous fall evening, Stephanie and Allan made their entrance into the reception. The couple went right into their first dance before sitting down for their first meal as husband and wife.

Soon after dinner, the cake was cut, and the anticipation of the cupcake bar opening was over. Sure, there was a beautiful two tiered, gold speckled cake that sat on top of a delicate gold pedestal stand, but all of the cupcakes surrounding the cake were mesmerizing! Between lemon blueberry vanilla, strawberry basil and chocolate salted caramel we aren’t sure how guests decided which to try – and that’s not even all of the flavors they had!

After a cupcake (or two!) everyone joined the couple out on the dance floor to party the night away. It wasn’t until everyone headed outside for the sparkler sendoff that the dance floor cleared!

Congratulations to the happy couple!
