Romantic Italian Countryside, Stateside in the South

Mar 19, 2019

Dusty and pale colors mixed with timeless and simple southern style at the Italian countryside inspired Hotel Domestique in Travelers Rest, South Carolina

The mountain view from this venue’s courtyard transports you to the Italian countryside without the travel. This picturesque backdrop set the stage for a timeless and intimate styled shoot, inspired by simple and natural elements mixed with soft colors and romantic, southern touches.

From the start, the invitation suite featured natural tones and romantic calligraphy to inspire the romantic style. The floral illustration added to the soft feeling.
Flowing into the feel for the day, the bridal look kept that romantic feeling alive and brought a touch of southern to it. The makeup was simple, and the bride’s hair was loosely pulled back into a low twisted bun for a timeless look. Her crepe dresswas simple but oh so perfect.
“While understated, the dress’s simple and minimalistic design didn’t need to compete with the backdrop or florals,” explained the shoot’s photographer. “It made it’s own statement without trying too hard.”
She added some sparkle to her look with a beautiful pair of embroidered and floral beaded heels. The blue, pink and peach floral designs looked as if it were made for this occasion. Plus, they offered a romantic and fine art detail unique to this southern Italian style.
The bride carried an oversized bouquet of the most amazing florals. The bouquet was full of dusty colors ranging from yellow and pink to blue and green and was full of so much texture. The ribbons that hung for the bouquet added the right whimsical touch of romance.
Just beyond the fountain, overlooking the mountains, the intimate ceremony was set. Wooden oval back chairs were set overlooking an asymmetrical floral arch. Two posts were covered with greenery and florals and perfectly framed the spot the groom stood awaiting his soon to be wife.
The groom stood there in his navy suit and simple white shirt. No tie, just an oversized boutonniere with the same textured look as the bride’s bouquet, all tied off with a frayed dusty blue ribbon.
After the couple joined one another at the altar, they were forever joined as husband and wife in front of the people who mattered the most to them.
Once they soaked up the scenery of the grounds and the views, the couple met their guests at the intimate dinner table overlooking the mountains.
“The table settings were chosen to embody the simple versus complex contrast,” explained the photographer.
The six person rectangular wooden table was set with matching wooden oval back chairs that had a lavender grey cushion. A simple white table runner lined the center of the table and on top sat three floral arrangements spread across the table.
The colorful arrangements were similar to the other flowers with lots of texture and pastel, dusty colors, with an occasional pop of hot pink to add some fun to the look!
Each place setting had a gold rimmed glass charger, paired with a simple white modern dinner plate. Dusty blue napkins wrapped in gold leaf napkin holders draped across the white plates. Modern wine glasses and gold flatware finished the table settings beautifully.
Across the stone patio the cake table was set with a stunning three tiered cake. The cake sat on top of a small round table draped with so many layers of sheer fabric. It was whimsical and romantic, unlike anything we have seen before! The cake was also unlike anything we have seen before.
“The cake was a showstopper,” the photographer said. “It beautifully intertwined the classiness and elegance of our style with the subtleness of pinks, blues and gold.”
The cake was painted in a watercolor-like look featuring all the dusty and pale colors used in the décor. A white leaf-like topper spanned across all three tiers to add some texture, just like all the day’s florals.

The couple and their guests spent the rest of the day relaxing in the southern inspired garden they created in their Italian countryside setting. And it couldn’t have been more perfect!
