Glamour meets retro wedding style with black, white and gold at The Brakefield at Riverwalk in Rock Hill, South Carolina
TJ knew he wanted to create a memorable proposal for Dana, so he enlisted the help of a photographer. Together, they planned what Dana thought was a gorgeous editorial photo shoot. But there was one major difference – Dana was not simply pretending to be a bride; she was about to become one!
Once all of the details were set and the shoot was underway, TJ got down on one knee and asked Dana to marry him. She said yes (how could she not?), and now they have beautiful styled photos to forever remind them when their lives first changed!
Dana and TJ celebrated their wedding day on a beautiful fall day. The venue itself was gorgeous. It combined beautiful European architecture together with expansive gardens, which made it a wonderful location for both the ceremony and reception.
With the venue in mind, the couple began weaving together their own individual styles to create a couple’s style that felt completely like them – glamorous and luxurious with the perfect amount of retro and romance.
On their wedding day, TJ and Dana each spent their mornings getting ready separately with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. It’s clear they all had the best morning filled with plenty of fun and laughter.
Dana slipped into her first dress of the day and it was a showstopper. It was a princess style ballgown with a beaded patterned bodice and full, tiered skirt. Her twisted updo added some edge to her look, while her beaded trailing earrings brought the glamour. The peek-a-boo back really brought the whole high fashion look together.
Once she was dressed, Dana took a moment in private to open a very special gift from TJ. Not too far away, TJ opened his gift from Dana. Although they were separated, we love how each teared up while opening the gifts and reading their partner’s note!
Guests were invited to take their seats outside in the garden for the ceremony. A modern gold circular arch, accented with blooms, served as a fabulous backdrop for TJ and Dana to become husband and wife!
Before Dana walked down the aisle, TJ and his groomsmen took their spots at the arch. TJ looked classic and dapper in a white jacketed suit, while his groomsmen kept it simpler but just as dapper in all black.
As soon as Dana began down the aisle, the two locked eyes and she was met by tears from TJ. Once they joined hands, they didn’t let go until the cord tying ceremony. They then exchanged vows and before they knew it, they were sharing their first kiss as husband and wife.
After the ceremony, TJ gifted Dana with another present – her own moto jacket, which he personalized with “Alpha Wife for Life” as a nod to his fraternity, Alpha Pi Alpha. Dana already looked chic in her modern dress, and her new custom jacket looked as though it was made for her and her dress! It truly completed her look and offered the perfect amount of “edge” during the couple’s formal photos together.
The couple then both changed outfits and when they revealed their second look, it was clear they were ready to party. As it turned out, Dana’s ceremony look was two pieces so when she removed the skirt it revealed a curve hugging, fully beaded dress that could turn heads. TJ switched his classic white jacket out for a black and gold sequined jacket that could not have been more on point.
While the couple changed, their guests headed inside and were wowed by the chic design featured in the reception space! Tables were adorned with ivory swirl linens and low centerpieces featuring ivory blooms and plenty of greenery. The soft look was offset by their mahogany Chiavari chairs.
At each place setting was a black charger wrapped in a gold napkin to bring the dramatic and glamorous feel to the table. The gold framed table numbers were the cherry on top of the cake to the look.
There was a head table for the bridal party draped with black sequin linens and tall centerpieces in gold trumpet vases dripping with ivory blooms and greenery.
The couple had two oversized tufted ivory chairs with gold framing sitting at the end of the table. Behind the couple’s seats was a stone fireplace decorated with greenery, black lanterns, candelabras and candlestick holders that created a romantic backdrop.
Across the room there was a black and gold Art Deco style cake that added to the room’s style. The five-tiered cake alternated between gold tiers and a black and white striped modern pattern. The cake sat on top of an acrylic cake stand, which then sat on a back sequined table.
From the moment the couple made their grand entrance, the dance floor was packed for the entire night. Even when Dana did her bouquet toss and TJ did the garter toss, their single friends filled the dance floor.
The couple was surrounded by the ones they love most the entire night and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day!
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
