Rustic Wedding All About the Dancing

Bailey Engle + Calvin Engle | Mar 25, 2018

Although they went to different high schools, Bailey and Calvin were introduced by a mutual friend of their youth group at Church of Charlotte. They were young but knew they would stay together! Calvin knew he wanted to be with Bailey forever so he conspired with Bailey’s sister, Sydney, to surprise Bailey with the perfect proposal! They picked out a ring they knew Bailey would love and then tackled their next mission of getting her dad’s blessing. After several failed attempts to meet with Bailey’s dad, Sydney was finally able to catch her dad at home. She called Calvin right away and even though it was a Tuesday at 8 p.m., he drove right over to Bailey’s family home. Bailey’s parents never have guests at the time so when they heard a knock on the door, Bailey’s dad answered (gun in hand, just in case) to find a very nervous Calvin! Calvin got his blessing and two nights later, he had another special question to ask. He arranged for him and Bailey to go on a double date with Sydney and her boyfriend and as luck would have it, Bailey ended up getting off work two hours late that night. She arrived at Sydney’s starving (and a little hangry) and as they were heading to dinner, Calvin announced he had to swing by Church at Charlotte to “retrieve a lost scarf for his aunt.” Trying to be patient, Bailey reluctantly agreed and when they arrived, Calvin slowly walked to the center of the courtyard while Bailey tried to pick up the pace to get to the restaurant faster. All of sudden, Calvin stopped, got down on one knee, and proposed in the place where they first met! Shocked, Bailey said, “yes!” She quickly followed up with, “So there’s no scarf?” Everyone got a laugh out of that one, and the four headed to dinner to celebrate!

Bailey and Calvin’s March wedding was a total celebration that reflected their longtime love and the love of their two families coming together. The two fell in love with Rolling Hill Farms in Monroe, North Carolina, and loved the beautiful landscaping the venue offered. They knew it would be the perfect place to have their wedding and the gorgeous setting fell seamlessly in place with their “rustic-styled” theme. Soft shades of green with pops of purple added a romantic touch to the rustic setting. The heartfelt ceremony was held outside set against a unique brick archway which made Bailey's gorgeous gown from Poffie Girls stand out even more. To make the moment even more special, Bailey and Calvin’s youth pastor from middle and high school officiated! They wrote their own vows and, since the guest list was fairly small and intimate, everyone appreciated the inside jokes the couple’s incorporated.

After the ceremony, the celebration moved indoors to a sprawling event hall with soaring cathedral ceilings, cedar beams and glittering chandeliers for a touch of rustic glam. The wooden walls and stone accents of the space were highlighted with white linens and burlap details while natural tree trunk pieces and romantic candlelight decorated the tables. Sprigs of baby’s breath and lavender were the perfect floral addition to tie the look together.

Bailey wanted the night to include as much dancing as possible and she got her wish! After enjoying amazing speeches and the wedding traditions of first dances, cake cutting and the bouquet and garter tosses, it was time to spend the rest of the night breaking it down on the dance floor. Bailey and Calvin had the best time celebrating their love story and marriage with those closest to them.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Engle!
