Simple + Rustic LoveStream Wedding

Stephanie + Michael | Oct 10, 2020

Simple and rustic LoveStream wedding with rich yellow and violet tones at Carolina Country Weddings in Charlotte, North Carolina

Stephanie and Michael were both studying at UNC Charlotte when they matched on a dating app in 2014. Their friendship grew into a relationship, which Michael took to new heights when he proposed on a trip to Denver.

“We went hiking with friends and he asked when we reached the top,” said Stephanie. “We ended the night going out to eat just the two of us, and it was perfect.”

When looking for a venue, Stephanie and Michael wanted a place that felt natural with a gorgeous background already in place. Surrounded by rolling hills, whimsical flowers and warm sunlight, the space was ideal for a rustic yet enchanting wedding.

“We knew that needed to be where we got married,” said Stephanie, “so much so that we pushed out our wedding for another year so we could get married there during October, our favorite time of year.”

Inside the bridal suite, the bridesmaids slipped on their mismatched gowns in varying shades of violet and lavender. The color palette, full of rich purple and striking yellow tones, was based on Stephanie’s stunning ametrine engagement ring.

“They all found the perfect dresses that matched their personality,” said Stephanie.

For Stephanie’s bridal look, she wore an ivory A-line gown with a sheer lace bodice and dramatic plunging neckline. She wore minimal jewelry, warm natural makeup and a vine hairpiece in her half-up, half-down curls.

“Simple and elegant, light and flowy,” said Stephanie. “Just what I wanted.”

Michael kept it dressy-casual in a tweed jacket, olive slacks and a grey skinny tie with a floral pattern. Standing in a lush pasture awaiting his first look with Stephanie, the natural beauty of his surroundings effortlessly accented his earthy ensemble.

“We both wrote each other letters that we read during our first look before the ceremony,” said Stephanie.

Due to the rain, they moved the ceremony inside a barn, instead of outside on the wooded patio. The decor was kept minimal with silver antiqued candle holders, framed photos of the couple and a bounty of fresh flowers. Both the floral decor and bouquets were arranged with dusty rose, lilac and ivory roses and wildflowers, mixed in with vibrant greenery.

“Since we wanted to keep the look natural, the flowers were our main source of decoration,” said Stephanie.

In her classic elbow-length veil, Stephanie walked elegantly down the aisle to the soft strumming of a guitar. She joined Michael at the altar, beneath a drapery of white chiffon fabric and an exquisite floral installation, while her coworker and dear friend officiated the service.

“The day was simple, intimate, and perfect,” said Stephanie.

With a condensed guest list due to the pandemic, Stephanie and Michael utilized LoveStream so that their friends and families could all be part of their special day from afar.

“Live streaming allowed them to watch from the safety of their home, but still be a part of our big day,” said Stephanie.

After the couple shared their first kiss as husband and wife, Rob + Kristen Photography captured the newlyweds and the wedding party in front of the wide-open glass barn doors, revealing a picturesque forest backdrop.

Around the space, they strung fairy lights, placed floral arrangements atop rustic tree stumps and set tables with ivory linens and white wooden cross back chairs. Each table was topped with royal blue napkins, candle votives and the ladies’ bouquets as centerpieces on acacia slabs.

“We had a DJ and a photobooth which was a huge hit,” said Stephanie. “We ate food then danced the rest of the evening.”

The photo booth also doubled as their guest book, in lieu of a traditional one. Two copies of the pictures would print: one for the guest and one that went into a book that their guests could then leave a note for them to read later.

After cutting the three-tiered ribbed wedding cake, adorned with lilac roses, eucalyptus and whimsical wildflowers, the newlyweds received an enchanting sparkler send-off from their loved ones.

“We were just happy to finally be married,” said Stephanie, “and to spend the day with our closest friends and family that could make it.”

Congratulations, Stephanie and Michael!
