Snowy White Winter Wonderland

Monica + Preston |

Elegant and classic intimate wedding with white, grey and gold in the snowy mountains at The Waterfall Club in Clayton, Georgia

When Monica and Preston started planning their wedding, they knew they wanted it to feel like a getaway weekend for their guests. Once they found The Waterfall Club in the Georgia mountains, they knew it was the perfect place for their winter wedding.

The venue’s picturesque mountain backdrop made it easy to plan the most beautiful classic and white, winter wedding. The actual snowfall was magical and made all the wintery touches, like the stone fireplace in the ceremony and the bride’s fur wrap, all the more useful!

“Monica secretly hoped when she chose her winter mountain venue that it would snow for her wedding day,” the wedding’s photographer said.“Obviously in Georgia that's a bit of a longshot, but we actually did get snow on their wedding day!”

Once wedding weekend rolled around, Monica and Preston left their home in Mobile, Alabama for the Georgia mountains to meet their closest family and friends. The small size of the wedding made things feel even more intimate and cozy.

The bride spent the wedding morning surrounded by her closest girlfriends. While they weren’t officially bridesmaids, she did still gift them with matching robes to wear as a thank you for being such an important part of her life.

“Monica and Preston did not have any bridesmaids and groomsmen as they really wanted to maintain an intimate feel to their wedding and let all their friends be special guests,” said the photographer.

Monica wore a white robe herself and some cozy looking boots before changing into her dress. The crepe dress was simple in the best way possible. The conservative high neckline balanced out the keyhole back. And the long train was just the cherry on top.

“The dress was a stunner and fit as if it was designed just for her,” the photographer recalled.“The smooth materia land keyhole back were so elegant and perfect for her!”

The dress was paired perfectly with Monica’s elegant updo and oversized gold stud earrings. She finished off the look with a very special diamond bracelet from her late mother. It was such a sweet way for Monica to be able to feel her mom’s presence on her wedding day.

She slipped on her blush beaded shoes, wrapped her white fur stole around her arms, grabbed her wintery white and dusty grey filled bouquet, and went to meet Preston at the altar.

Guests had already taken their seats and were taking in the incredible views on the front patio of the venue. In front of the sweeping mountain views was a wooden arbor decorated with two floral clusters, one on each side, matching the bride’s bouquet and a cluster of lanterns surrounding the arbors posts. Matching lanterns lined the aisle where each end chair was tied with white fabric and a cluster of greenery.

In the back corner was a floor to ceiling stone fireplace warming up the patio. On the mantle was more greenery and lanterns to tie the whole elegant look together.

Preston stood at the altar in a classic black tux and black bowtie waiting to see his bride for the first time. That moment was magical and so was the ceremony. It was officiated by a special family friend and included a unique handfasting ceremony.

“The officiant used special braided cords to bind the couple's hands together in a special ceremony that represented their new unity,” the photographer explained.“Each braid's color and symbol represented something meaningful to the ceremony!”

Once the couple shared their first kiss, they walked back down the aisle together. They took a few minutes alone together while their guests headed inside for the reception. While the couple was outside by themselves, much to their surprise (and wishes!) it actually started to snow.

Inside, things felt just as elegant and cozy. As guests entered, they were welcomed by a Christmas tree they could put their gifts underneath and a grand staircase wrapped with greenery and surrounded by lanterns and candles.

As guests made their way into the main room, there was another all stone fireplace to warm them up. An ornate chandelier hung from the wooden beams in the ceiling over all the guest tables. The round tables were set with classic white linens and set with unique floral dining chairs that matched the grey, wintery color palette.

The tables were all decorated with a trio of gold pillar candle holders surrounded with greenery and gold mercury votives. Each seat had a gold charger topped with an elegant menu card.

Once everyone had taken their seats, dinner was served and after dinner the couple cut their wedding cake. The four-tiered cake had two matching tiers in all gold with a single white stripe, a tier of gold and white stripes and a tier of a white rosette design.

After enjoying the cake and the company of their guests, Monica wrapped herself back up in her shawl, grabbed Preston’s hand and walked outside where the guests were lighting up the exit with sparklers.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.!
