Kelley Solomon + Perry Johnson | Sep 30, 2017
Family and their Southern roots played a big part in the Raleigh wedding plans that Kelley and Perry dreamt of. The two, who met through mutual friends at NC State University, began their happily ever after with a sweet proposal in the heart of the South, Charleston.
The couple took a trip to visit her grandparents before their mini vacation. At one point over the weekend, Kelley suggested cancelling Charleston to spend the rest of the weekend at her grandparents; however, Kelley’s parents nixed that idea because they knew that Perry had a plan! The two headed to Charleston and spent the day relaxing and enjoying each other’s company on the beach. After enjoying an amazing dinner, Kelley and Perry took a stroll down to the waterfront where they wound up directly in front of the water by themselves at sunset -- and that’s where Perry proposed! To make it even more special, Perry had arranged for a photographer to be waiting to capture the moment. The two spent the next few days in Charleston enjoying being a newly engaged couple before heading back home, the perfect way to celebrate.
It comes as no surprise then that the couple selected a gorgeous, southern home for their wedding day.
They chose a white, shell pink and gold color palette that played perfectly off of the lush greenery of the grounds. Soft, simple florals and classic southern elegance were used consistently throughout every part of their wedding day and truly brought their theme to life.
Family is very important to Kelley and she shared a sweet first look both her grandparents and her dad. She and Perry chose to stick with their traditional theme and not do a first look; instead, they held hands standing at different corners of a wall on the back porch and read love letters they had written for each other. This emotional moment truly calmed their nerves before their beautiful waterfront ceremony.
Their classic southern theme carried over into their reception where soft florals, greener, and candles provided an air of romantic elegance. They made sure to personalize the day including their sweets table, including an ice cream cake, a cookie cake and sweet treats made by Kelley’s mom (she’s known for her holiday bark!). Bunn DJ Co. provided the entertainment, and both Kelley and Perry agree that some of the best parts of the day were on the dance floor surrounded by their family and friends who have supported them throughout their lives.
Congratulations, Kelley and Perry!
