Springtime Celebration, Complete with Nod to Late Grandmother

It wasn’t easy for these two to meet but fate had special plans for them! Working as systems engineers, Kristen and Justin happened to meet in California on a soccer field. Sparks flew and they began to date long distance, commuting back and forth between Minnesota and North Carolina every four to six weeks to see each other. On one such visit, Justin took Kristen to visit the beautiful city of Duluth, Minnesota on Lake Superior. They started in Lester Park and Justin was insistent on finding a particular waterfall. After walking all over looking for it, Justin called the park ranger and they were pointed in the right direction. Once they arrived, they waited for a group of high school girls to leave and when they did, Justin got down on one knee and proposed!
They decided to tie the knot in North Carolina and their April wedding was a springtime dream. Their vision for an elegant and classic celebration came to life with their beautiful blue and purple color palette.
They had a beautiful traditional church ceremony at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlotte surrounded by friends and family. Afterward, the celebration continued at Cabarrus Country Club in Concord, North Carolina. The two paid close attention to every detail to make sure the day was both true to them and their vision. Hydrangeas were included in the floral arrangements in remembrance of Kristen’s late grandmother who was an artist that found inspiration from the flower. Floral and greenery centerpieces paired with silver votives were both simple and elegant.
The reception was full of warm toasts and memorable dances, including a dance-off by Kristen and Justin to the classic tune “Staying Alive,” and a special dance for both the bride and groom’s parents. DJ Marty helped them accomplish their goal of making their wedding a night filled with fun as everyone joined the dance floor all night long. A highlight of the night was Justin hopping behind the DJ table to create his own mix! Guests enjoyed great music, delicious food and cake, and had the best time celebrating the new Mr. and Mrs. Simons!
