Jenny + Dylan | May 17, 2019
Dusty rose and ivory rustic elegance wedding with nature and boho inspiration at the southern Wingate Plantation in Johns Island, South Carolina
Jenny and Dylan met in a high school study hall. Nine months later Dylan left for basic training with the United States Coast Guard and Jenny went off to college. They maintained their relationship through the years with letters, Skype dates and visits to each other. After four years of long distance, they finally moved in together. Another four years later, Dylan proposed to Jenny on a hike at the summit of a beautiful alpine lake in Washington, completely surprising her.
The couple planned their rustic and elegant wedding day for the spring time. The bride’s love for nature played a big part of the style and feel for the day and, luckily for her, there’s nothing more beautiful than spring in the south.
“My inspiration stemmed from my love for nature,” explained the bride. “I knew I wanted an outdoor bohemian styled wedding focusing on natural greenery.”
Jenny and her girls spent the morning in their dusty rose and lace robes that matched the color scheme for the entire day. The bridesmaids went from the dusty rose robes to their dusty rose mismatched dresses and Jenny went from her white robe to her white bridal gown.
The all lace dress had off the shoulder lace sleeves, that paired with her braided, floral accented ‘do, created a bohemian feel.
“I knew I always wanted something simple with lace,” told Jenny. “I wore an ivory A-line off-the shoulder lace gown with a low cut back and a short lace train. It was perfect.”
Her bridesmaids all gathered around her to admire her look and help with the finishing touches before Jenny left to meet Dylan for their first look.
Dylan stood beneath one of the overgrown oak trees in the middle of a grassy field in his dress blue. Since his role in the Coast Guard played such a large role in their relationship, it only made sense that he got married in his uniform. Jenny walked up behind him and in that moment, everything was perfect.
“In that moment, it was just the two of us and seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day was so special,” Jenny explained. “After nine years of anticipating this moment and an entire year of planning our wedding, I think we were both able to take a deep breath and appreciate what all this means. It truly was magical to see my best friend so taken away by the beauty of it all.”
And thanks to Sarah Beach Photography they have the most perfect pictures of that moment so they can remember it forever.
After the first look, the bridal party joined the couple for some pictures of the whole group. The groomsmen matched the dusty rose bridesmaids with their dusty rose colored ties and pocket squares. They wore light grey suits that popped with a navy blue vest that tied into the color of Dylan’s dress blues.
The group was surrounded by the fresh greenery with the spring sun shining down on them. The ladies’ bouquets fit right into the natural setting with fresh greenery and soft white florals, while the accenting succulents added some boho style. The bride’s bouquet had a little extra pop with some dusty rose color to tie the whole look together.
As the group wrapped up pictures, guests began to take their seats at the waterfront ceremony. White folding chairs were set beneath the dreamiest, Spanish-moss dripping oak tree next to the water. The aisle chairs were all marked with a cluster of white flowers, greenery and baby’s breath, tied off with white tulle and ribbon.
Once everyone had taken their seats, the bridal party took their spots at the front just as Jenny appeared to make her way down the aisle. She joined hands with Dylan and didn’t let go until they shared their very first kiss as a married couple.
As guests made their way into the tented reception, Dylan made a quick change into a custom made grey suit to match his groomsmen before making the grand entrance into the reception with his new wife.
Inside the tent were tables draped with white linens and decorated with rustic bronze lanterns sitting on top of scattered greenery, some loose florals and a few accenting succulents. The succulents really gave the room that earthy feel, especially next to the wooden rustic table numbers the couple made themselves. The earthy and rustic centerpieces were balanced out by the elegant and classic white dinner plates that sat on top of a dusty rose colored napkin.
Everyone was seated and the couple made their entrance into the room and onto the dance floor beneath the greenery wrapped chandeliers to share a first dance together.
After their dance, Jenny and Dylan took a seat at their elegantly set sweetheart table. The table was decorated with rose gold “Mr. & Mrs.” letters and gold votives. They had gold beaded acrylic chargers topped with gold polka dot dinner plates and ornate gold and silver flatware. They added a rustic touch with wooden “Mr.” and “Mrs.” chair signs and a few succulents scattered around the tabletop.
Dinner was served and then the couple disappeared to take a few more newlywed portraits, because how could they not with that perfect lighting?! When they got back, the dance floor was packed, and it was one of their favorite things they saw.
“My favorite part of our wedding was coming back from our couples portraits and seeing our entire wedding party out on the dance floor!”
They joined the group on the dance floor and only took a break when it was time to cut their cake. Their small cutting cake was on top of the most elegant glass tiered stand. The cake itself was topped with a dusty rose last name topper and surrounded by ivory roses and baby’s breath. The tiers below were filled with cupcakes that not only looked delicious but matched the ivory and rose color scheme. A few loose succulents were tucked into the display to keep the nature feel flowing throughout the entire room.
The couple toasted with their champagne from Brand Bars and Events to celebrate the most perfect day ever.
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
