Romantic wedding with blush tones, elegant decor and summer blooms at The Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina
Liliana and Chris met for the very first time at a New Year’s party at their mutual church. When asked about their relationship, they said that they are two people who are extensively alike. They are each other's best friend - always goofy together and understand each other better than anyone.
“We had a long-distance relationship, however that did not stop us from continuing to build a strong relationship,” said Liliana. “The long drives and long nights talking to each other made us appreciate each other so much more.”
Fast forward to a beautiful day in a picturesque park - a very sentimental place where Chris planned to ask Liliana to be his wife. When he finally popped the question in mind in the middle of lush bushes, Liliana said yes without hesitation!
Being admirers of the outdoors, the couple chose the luscious UNCC Botanical Gardens for their bridal party pictures and bride and groom portraits. Also - it’s where they went for their first date! When the wedding day arrived, they tied the knot at The Ballantyne, a luxurious hotel in the Queen City, where fresh summer blooms, elegant decor and blush tones created the perfect romantic setting to say “I Do.”
The couple spent the morning with their wedding party in respective bridal suites, complete with balconies, chic furnishings and an abundance of natural light flooding in through broad windows. Liliana’s bridesmaids slipped into romantic, blush pink wrap gowns with ruffled sleeves - completing the look with pearl embellished hair clips. When Liliana emerged in her bridal look, they were speechless.
She looked breathtaking in an ivory gown with a mermaid silhouette, illusion neckline and lace bodice. The lace detail extended down sheer long sleeves, and the base of the skirt flounced with layers of tulle. She completed the look with white patent leather, strappy block heels and a classic tulle veil.
Chris and his groomsmen sported dapper grey suits, with a white button-down, pink floral print tie and ivory rose boutonniere. The best detail of all was their matching pairs of watermelon socks!
For their first look, Liliana and Chris loved the idea of doing it on the hotel’s beautiful grand staircase. Unfortunately, there was a huge wedding happening at the same time, and they had to shift gears.
“Good thing was that the hotel had its own golf course!” said the photographer. “Beautiful, rolling hills, perfectly-cut green grass and right in the middle, a little wooden bridge.”
When Chris turned around and saw Liliana for the first time in her gown fit for a princess, his reaction was priceless. He smiled, laughed, and shed happy tears while Liliana twirled around him while time stood still. You could truly tell how much they both love and admire each other, making it both of their favorite moments of the day.
“This was one of the most touching first looks I have ever witnessed so far and Chris’ reaction was the one every girl wishes for,” said the photographer. “Then we had to leave because angry golfers yelled at us for blocking the green!”
The ceremony took place in a gorgeous church, with floral arrangements affixed to the ends of pews with blush pink satin ribbons. There were large floral installations with geometric gold structures in varying sizes at the altar, with ivory drapery hanging behind them. Liliana’s classic bouquet mirrored the florals in the decor, blossoming with creamy and blush-colored ranunculus and roses, mixed with wild greenery.
She stepped onto the ivory runner and walked down the aisle by herself - all eyes on her of course. Following a beautiful ceremony in Russian, Chris delicately lifted her veil, and gave her that much-anticipated first kiss. It was a moment so full of love and togetherness that they would never forget!
“After the ceremony the married couple stayed in front of the church and the wedding guests formed a line to congratulate and greet them individually,” said the photographer.
Inside the palatial hotel, boasting exquisite crystal chandeliers and grand staircases, the ballroom was transformed into the most enchanting dinner party and reception space. Banquet tables and round tables were set up with all-white linens and seating, each designed with the most lovely tablescape.
There were centerpiece arrangements perched on tall gold geometric bases, taper candles and runners made from greenery waterfalling over the ends of tables. Each place setting featured a gold textured charger, white porcelain dinner plate, blush pink linen napkin and a tiny sweet treat in the center of every plate.
Liliana and Chris celebrated all night with their loved ones, clinking glasses, giving toasts and dancing the night away on the dance floor. Friends sang and performed little role plays, and the couple even gifted their parents framed photographs of their engagement session as gratitude for all their help and support.
Following toasts and a dinner featuring European fare, they ended the evening with a multi-tiered, macaron wedding cake! The top tier was a simple buttercream cake, with layers of blush macarons and creamy roses completing the rest. There was a gold circular structure with a cascading floral arrangement that added to the overall display, along with a table featuring an extensive array of assorted desserts.
With full stomachs and hearts, Chris and Liliana’s families and friends gave them a magical send-off to top off the wedding night of their dreams.
Congratulations to Liliana and Chris!
