Haley + Matt | Nov 1, 2019
Boho-chic wedding centered around the beauty in simplicity, with natural décor and a pop of bright, fall colors at Chatham Station in Cary, North Carolina
A spontaneous move out of state, a new job and training was all it took for Haley and Matt to meet, and they instantly knew that they were meant to be.
“Matt is the most persistent, gentle, kind and loving man I’ve ever met in my life,” Haley said.
They were each other’s best friend for months as the feelings blossomed, and Matt never stopped trying to impress Haley, always making sure she felt supported. After she moved back to Raleigh, he flew out there to take her on a proper date. It was game over after that, and they started a life together that was more beautiful every day.
“It would truly take writing and editing a novel to tell you our love story because it is, in fact, something you’d see from a movie,” said Haley. “We are the fairytale I hope to tell our children and other romantics in the world that if your heart is open, truly open, the right person will walk right in.”
On a perfect fall day in North Carolina, the wedding vibes were set in a historic downtown setting along charming railroad tracks. An industrial chic space was set with natural décor, boasting exposed brick, natural wood elements, metallic accents, a skylight and tons of warm, natural light.
“Our big day was centered around the beauty in simplicity,” Haley said. “We had natural décor with a pop of bright colors, and the day was centered around lots of sunshine and even more love.”
Haley spent the morning lounging in a cozy button-down nightshirt, getting her hair and makeup ready with her bridesmaids. After the ladies slipped into their burnt orange, velvet halter-neck gowns, they eagerly awaited Haley in her bridal look.
“Boho meets modern vintage was our look, 100 percent,” Haley said. “Being the bride, I wanted my dress to stand out a little more.”
She was a vision in a long-sleeve, ivory gown full of geometrical influence with a plunging neckline. Her loose brown curls were pinned back on the side with a floral hairpiece, and she completed the look in a pair of crystal drop earrings, a collar statement necklace and a veil.
“I knew my dress was designed especially for my style and made me feel like I could fully express myself as a bride,” said Haley.
Matt looked effortlessly handsome in a sleek navy suit with a deep brown shoe, a skinny floral tie that brought in burnt orange, ivory, maroon and dusty blue, and a pocket square to match. Last but not least, he rocked some taco socks!
“He looked flawless and his look completely embodied his personality,” said Haley.
Matt and Haley decided to have a first look before the ceremony, and it was truly one of the most magical moments of their lives. As he turned to look at his bride for the very first time, they embraced each other and were completely overwhelmed with love and happiness.
“Our reactions to one another and how beautiful we both felt in the moment was indescribable,” said Haley.
Following the first look, the couple joined their wedding party for photos. The ladies posed with their lush bouquets, full of fresh eucalyptus, white Italian ruscus, burnt orange roses, cream garden roses and a rose-colored king protea.
“Florals and greenery were one of the biggest staples at our wedding,” said Haley. “I even wore a real pressed floral hair clip in my hair to bring the color scheme of the wedding to full circle — magical.”
Boho-chic meets fall was the essence of the wedding decor for both the ceremony and the reception. There were big bohemian flowers, bundles of fresh greenery, gold accents and an explosion of natural light and geometric shapes.
Inside the space, there were exposed brick walls, natural wood elements, metallic accents and glass garage doors that allowed for an entire wall of natural lighting. At the end of the aisle, there were two, five-foot beams hand-built by the bride’s father and wrapped in greenery, pampas grass and bursts of maroon, ivory, mustard and orange florals.
There were rows of white wooden crossback chairs, and sprays of eucalyptus adorning the end chairs along the aisle. Once the guests arrived and found their seats, it was time for Haley and her father to take the aisle.
He led her through the wooden double doors and down the aisle to Matt, where they exchanged smiles, tears and the most beautiful vows. They looked at each other as if they were the only two people in the world, right before saying their “I do’s” and sealing the moment with a kiss.
After the ceremony, the space was transformed into the reception of their dreams. As guests entered, they signed a special guest book that had been created from a poster, hand painted with an aspen tree and the couple’s last names. It now hangs in Matt and Haley’s living room – for years to come!
Under crystal chandeliers and geometric light fixtures, a farm table was set for the newlyweds and their wedding party, surrounded by round tables set with abstract berry and lavender linens with metallic details, each set with the dreamiest tablescape.
On every round table, there were gold votive candles and large centerpiece arrangements in glass fishbowl vases overflowing with sprays of greenery, pampas grass and assorted florals. At the banquet farm table, an eucalyptus garland ran across the table, paired with fern leaves, small floral arrangements and geometric glass votive candles.
Each table was complete with glamorous place settings, featuring a white linen, white scalloped-edge ceramic dinner plate, gold brushed flatware and crystal goblets. At the newlyweds’ spot, there was a gold laser cut “Mr & Mrs” sign.
After Matt and Haley shared their intimate first dance moment, followed by the special parent dances, their friends and families joined them on the dance floor where the party started, and went on all night long.
“Our venue offered access to be indoors or outdoors, just in case our friends and family got a little sweaty from the dance floor, as we knew our dance crew would,” said Haley.
Having worked up an appetite on both the dance floor and at the corn hole boards, built by Haley’s father, the party was ready to indulge in something sweet. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, they had two, three-tiered platters of assorted donuts.
Matt and Haley, toasted, clinked their champagne glasses and capped off the moment with a sugary bite. There was even a s’mores bar with a miniature fire pit where guests could roast their own marshmallows!
“Matt and Haley's day was filled with a lot of love and a lot of laughter,” the photographer said. “The couple and their entire wedding party were living their best life!”
At the end of the night after a few more twirls on the dance floor, Matt and Haley’s loved ones lined up with their glow sticks and showered them with love, creating the most magical send-off for the happy couple.
We wish Haley and Matt a lifetime of love and happiness!
