The Icing on Top of The Pineapple Cake

Gina + Alexander | Oct 30, 2018

Intimate and private elopement with blush color and tropical style at the southern inspired Wingate Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina

Gina and Alex had been visiting Folly Beach just outside of Charleston for years. After they got engaged, they decided to bring their families down with them for their wedding. They rented a beach house for the week, and halfway through tied the knot in a private ceremony.

The intimate elopement was sweet, southern and family-centered. It was just the couple, their parents, the bride’s sister and the couple’s dog. The day was full of the color blush and fun, tropical-inspired accents, like the bride’s exotic bouquet and the pineapple décor.

Gina spent the morning getting her hair and makeup done. Even though it was just her family, she still wanted to look and feel like a blushing bride. And boy did she!

Her hair was done in twisted half up, half down ‘do with a diamond headband. Makeup was kept light and classic, which matched the style of her dress.

The dress was both classic and modern at the same time. It was simple looking from the front with just a slight flare at the bottom and a little jeweled embellishment on the shoulder. The back was where it really wowed. Two embellished straps crossed over, leaving a majority of the back open.

While Gina got dressed, Emily Meeks Photography captured all of the little details – the Charleston map postcard, the weekend itinerary and Gina’s pink confetti Kate Spade shoes. Everything was in line with the classic and blush inspired day, with a pop of fun!

Once she was dressed, the bride grabbed her blush and white rose, peony and King Protea filled bouquet and went to meet her groom. Alex stood outside in his navy blue suit waiting to see his bride for the first time. He had a blush pink tie and pineapples on his sock to match the day’s style.

When the two met, it was magical. Surrounded by the beautiful grounds and Spanish moss filled trees, the couple enjoyed their private moment together before they were joined by their dog.

After the couple enjoyed some time with their pup, it was time for the ceremony to begin. They went their separate ways, only to meet back up again at the altar.

Gina walked arm in arm with her dad, as they headed toward the ceremony site. From the branch of an oversized tree hung a large gold hoop. On the top and bottom were large white and blush flower arrangements accented with palm leaves for a tropical feel.

After officially becoming Mr. and Mrs., the two shared a celebratory champagne toast and a delicious piece of cake. The cake sat on top of a gold mirrored bar cart and looked like a pineapple. The cake had a yellow rosette icing design and had the actual crown of a pineapple on top.

While their family headed downtown to dinner, the couple took a little more time to enjoy newlywed bliss, just the two of them (and their dog for a few more pictures!), before joining their families at dinner.

The intimate and private day was everything the couple had hoped for. The gorgeous southern and classic inspired look with tropical twist was just the icing on top of the (pineapple) cake!

Congratulations to the happy couple!
