Sam Bates + Zach Hoffman | Jan 20, 2018
Sam and Zach are both active duty military and met in 2014 while they were both stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. A mutual friend introduced them at a going away party when Sam tried to be clever and asked said friend to persuade “the handsome hunk” to ask her out on a date. Unsure at first (he was nervous Sam might be a tad out of his league), he eventually built up the courage to ask her out and it wasn’t long before the two were spending every spare minute together. Their relationship grew over their shared love of hiking, watching movies, and spending time with their dogs, and it even managed to overcome the Big Ten Rivalry they had between them (Zach is an Iowa Hawkeye and Sam is an Ohio State Buckeye)!
Their love was truly meant to be and Zach knew he had to plan the perfect proposal to make the moment special for both of them. He had a few ideas in mind and reached out to Perfect Proposals to finalize the details. Zach took Sam to Fahrenheit, a rooftop restaurant and lounge in Uptown Charlotte with a breathtaking view of the Charlotte skyline. As they were taking in the sights, Zach got down on one knee and, surrounded by the claps and cheers of onlookers, Sam said, “yes!” To make it even better, he had arranged for Amanda Moss Photography to capture the perfect moment so they could cherish it forever! Sam and Zach capped off their joyous evening by taking a horse-drawn carriage through Uptown Charlotte to admire the views and soak in their newly engaged bliss.
Sam and Zach are so excited for their upcoming nuptials and when asked his wedding planning advice for engaged couples, Zach suggests, “As far wedding advice we would say to start early and have fun with it. A lot of people tend to get stressed about the details but it’s your wedding so do what makes you happy. And if stuff does go wrong during the wedding or reception don’t sweat it. Odds are everyone will get a good laugh and it’ll make for a more memorable event for you to reflect on years down the road.”
Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman!
