Brandi + Shante | Nov 10, 2019
Intimate styled shoot with an earthy color palette and bohemian décor at a private venue in Irmo, South Carolina
Brandi and Shante first met at a softball tournament, but they reconnected a few years later and made their relationship official, just before Brandi went off to basic training for the Army. Fast-forward another few years, they had their sweet little girl Brooklyn and their family felt complete.
“These two radiate love, passion and kindness,” said the photographer. “They show that love can break any barrier and that true love in the purest form sees love the same.”
The two soon got engaged and eventually eloped, however they both still longed to have their wedding season captured for all the years to come.
“I’ve gotten to witness their love grow and flourish over the years,” said the photographer. “The two of them got married at the courthouse, but a year later still longed for that wedding day experience. Brandi approached me about doing a styled shoot for her as a keepsake, and I couldn't have felt more honored to be trusted with their day.”
Brandi had always dreamt of a bohemian feel, and that vision was truly brought to life through this intimate styled shoot on a breezy autumn day in South Carolina. The color palette was earthy and warm, with natural tones including beige and cream, and with pops of teal and terracotta.
When Brandi stepped out in her complete bridal look, she looked every bit a princess. She wore a gorgeous, bone-colored mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline and intricate lace detail. Her hair was pinned back in a half-up, half-down style and she completed the ensemble with a pair of crystal drop earrings and a lace-trimmed Bel-Air veil.
Shante perfectly complemented her, sporting a pair of tan Havana dress pants with a white button down, brown shoes and teal suspenders. Both looked effortlessly chic, glowing from the natural light and the endless amounts of love they felt for one another and their enduring relationship.
As Shante stood next to their daughter, they eagerly awaited the much-anticipated first look moment together. When Shante finally turned to see Brandi in her bridal look for the first time, the reaction was something the couple would never forget.
“The most beautiful part of this shoot was walking through the sea of wheat at sunset, and Shante’s reaction to seeing Brandi at their first look,” said the photographer.
Following their initial encounter all dressed up, they posed for photos with their adorable daughter, as well as posed for a few photos, just the two of them. Surrounded by endless fields of Southern wheat and natural light that flooded through the trees as the sun sank down, they looked absolutely mystical and completely in love.
Brandi posed solo with her gorgeous bouquet, full of flowers inspired by the moody colors of the outdoors. It was a lush bundle of greenery, sprigs of myrtle, pink lilies and assorted flowers in popping shades of burnt orange and deep berry.
In front of a rustic arbor, made from branches, cream linen drapery and fresh green garland, the couple stood face to face, ready to read their vows. After exchanging, they sealed the moment with a kiss and a playful dip as they danced into the evening.
“I've had the privilege of capturing many seasons of life for this beautiful couple, but being asked to do a small styled wedding for them as they ‘tightened their knot’ was by far their most special request,” said the photographer. “Brandi told me her dreams of an open field bohemian setting, and that vision was brought to life,” said the photographer.
The field had been transformed into a boho-chic outdoor celebration that was just the rights amounts of intimate and dreamy. With touches of wicker accents, antique candle holders and lanterns, a Moroccan style pouf and a cream and terracotta rusted rug, the set-up was every bit whimsical as it was beautiful.
“We brought rustic, lace, vintage and DIY to a beautiful overgrown wheat farm field in South Carolina,” said the photographer.
An antique dark wood accent table was used to display a simple yet beautiful, single-tiered white cake. It sat on a gray vintage stand with textured frosting, floral embellishments and a single spray of myrtle perched on top, making the cake cutting another magical photo moment.
“Witnessing the love these two share for each other is inspiring,” said the photographer. “They love despite differences and despite what the world tells them is wrong or right.”
With full hearts, the couple nestled into each other on a wooden loveseat, watching the sun go down while they held each other tight.
