Timeless and Elegant “Pink” Wedding in Uptown

Katheryn Cipriani + Michael Philbeck | Apr 28, 2018

It was a classic setup that brought Katheryn and Mike together eight years ago when a mutual college friend set them up and they instantly became inseparable. The two are such a fun couple so it was only fitting that Mike come up with the best surprise proposal! On New Year’s Eve 2016, Katheryn and Mike were out celebrating at The Roxbury, a nightclub in Uptown Charlotte. A few weeks prior, Mike had hidden a box of Ring Pops from Katheryn and around 11:50 p.m., he started to hand the candy rings to everyone except her. A circle had started to form around them and Katheryn was starting to get annoyed that Mike wouldn’t give her a ring. Then, the DJ started counting down, “10…9…8…” and that’s when Mike got down on one knee and proposed with a real ring! Katheryn immediately said “yes” and they spent the rest of the evening enjoying their new engagement!

Since Katheryn was a little girl, she always knew that she was going to have a “pink” wedding just like Shelby’s in the classic movie Steele Magnolia’s. The couple wanted their wedding to be nothing but timeless, so that years from now their photos would still look just as stylish as the day they were married. So, they chose a simple yet elegant color palette of pink, blush and gold.

Prior to their ceremony, Katheryn and Mike shared a first touch instead of a first look and it was one of the best (and nerve calming!) moments of their day. Katheryn and Mike held their ceremony at the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians Belmont Abbey where they had a classic, traditional Catholic wedding. The church is beautiful on its on so they chose to only add a simple alter arrangement and a few bows on the pews to accent the natural beauty.

After their beautiful ceremony, the new Mr. and Mrs. moved the celebration to their stunning reception venue, Founders Hall in Uptown Charlotte. The soaring glass dome and marble floor paired with fountains and trees brings the outside in for a breathtaking setting. Various florals in shades of pink and white added pops of color to the space and light pink, white and gold sequined linens completed the look. Forgoing the traditional table layout, Katheryn and Mike opted to arrange their tables in a large “X.” At the center of the table formation was a large flower arrangement and several photos of family weddings and the two of them.

When asked her wedding day advice for brides-to-be, Katheryn shared, “On your wedding day, take a moment to just be with your significant other (even if it’s only for a minute). Trust me, you will always cherish that moment. You’re wedding day is extremely busy and crazy with all of your loved ones there. Take a second to remember this day is about the two of you and your life together!”

Congratulations, Katheryn and Mike!
