Timeless Uptown Wedding with Marquee Lights and Classic Beauty

Rachel Zimmer + Dr. James Turner Hull |

Rachel and Turner met the “new” old-fashioned way: online! They were both on in 2013 and the site suggested Turner to Rachel. They emailed a bit but then, due to one too many bad dates, Rachel took an abrupt hiatus from the online dating scene, although she never quite forgot about Turner. In the fall of 2014, Rachel re-engaged her Match subscription, was pleasantly surprised to see Turner and the two started emailing again. They eventually went on their first date to Rooster’s in SouthPark and they never looked back! Rachel recalls, “We spent all night chatting about family, school, relationships and life. It was one of those great first dates where you end up being one of the last people at the place.” Every time they went to Rooster’s thereafter, Rachel would always beg Turner to pretend like it was their first date and on one such occasion, he really played along. After asking each other awkward first date questions before dinner, they enjoyed a night out at their favorite spot before heading back to Turner’s place. While Rachel was at the counter mixing drinks, she turned around to find Turner on one knee and he said, “I know this is only our first date, but will you marry me?” Rachel said, ‘Yes!”

Rachel and Turner wanted their wedding to feel upscale and timeless, modern and classic, all at the same time. They chose a color scheme of white, blush and metallics, perfect for the glass atrium setting of Founder’s Hall in uptown Charlotte. The ceremony space was stunning; chairs arranged in a semi-circle provided an intimate feel while pomander flower balls and an aisle full of rose petals added a romantic touch. The reception was designed and set up to feel “close” in the large, airy space. Simple yet beautiful centerpieces dressed the tables for the evening. A super fun light-up marquee saying, “Dr. & Mrs” was the highlight of the sweetheart table and Rachel’s crafty skills wowed guests in that much of the wedding décor and extras were DIY! One of the couple’s favorite parts of the day was when Rich, their DJ from Remarkable Receptions, read their love story to the crowd – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! It was truly the perfect wedding, coordinated expertly by the team at Something Perfect. Cinema Film was there to capture the day from start to finish on film so that this sweet couple didn't forget any moment of their day! The love that Rachel and Turner have for each other was radiant throughout the night which was the perfect start to their life as husband and wife!

Congratulations, Rachel and Turner!
