Jennifer + John | Oct 6, 2018
After working under John for about a year, Jennifer finally started to notice that he may have more to offer her. She would find reasons to go into his office, like to ask a question even if she already knew the answer, so she could have the chance to talk to him. The two finally went on a first date and four years later, John was getting ready to propose.
It was the night before they were supposed to leave on a beach trip with friends. Jennifer was cleaning out the fridge and came across something wrapped in foil. John told her to check it to see if it was still good. When she opened she found a ring box and John on one knee ready to propose.
The fall wedding was set for October and it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day. Jennifer and John planned a modern wedding with a twist, keeping everything unique to their style.
Jennifer spent the morning getting ready, surrounded by all her favorite women and she couldn’t have enjoyed that moment more.
“The most special moment for me was spending the entire day surrounded by my bridesmaids that were there in full support of me having the best day I could ever imagine,” said the bride. “We had a great time just being ourselves and drinking too much champagne.”
When the time came to get dressed, Jennifer had found a beautiful a-line empire waist dress with thin straps, a beaded top and tulle bottom. Believe it or not she actually ordered the Adriana Pappell dress off Amazon after trying it on in a store that didn’t carry her size!
Once she was dressed, she went to meet John on the rooftop for an intimate first look. John stood there in a navy J. Crew suit, blue plaid shirt, light pink tie and brown shoes with – our favorite part – matching light pink shoe laces! Jennifer walked up behind him carrying her beyond gorgeous cascading white and pink bouquet made up of lilies, calla lilies, roses and greenery. John turned around and his jaw nearly hit the floor.
The couple spent some time alone soaking in their first few moments together before they were joined by the rest of the bridal party before heading to the ceremony. We love the unique attire they chose for their bridal party. Matching light pink tulle skirts with a different white top for each bridesmaid and an array of similar navy blue suits with matching shirts and ties for the gentleman. There was even a groomswomen who wore a navy blue jumpsuit and we love everything about that! A bridal party modernly dressed with a unique twist!
The venue was an art gallery, so it was somewhat of a blank slate that already had a slight modern feel with its white walls and art work. At the front of the ceremony was a wooden arbor draped with pink fabric and two large cascading flower clusters on each side that looked just like the bride’s beautiful bouquet.
Once the bridal party took their places on each side of the groom and officiant, Jennifer made her way down the aisle with her dad. The couple exchanged some teary eyed vows and moments later shared their first kiss as husband and wife.
Guests were welcomed into cocktail hour with games! Instead of doing candles or flowers on the cocktail tables, the couple used classic games, such as Connect Four and UNO, as the centerpieces and it was such a hit!
That wasn’t all, there was also an iPad operated photobooth and Polaroid camera guestbook. Next to the guestbook table was a life size cut out of the couple, so guests could “take a picture with them.” It doesn’t get more unique and personalized than that! And by the number of polaroid pictures the couple took home at the end of the night, it was safe to say the guests loved it.
“Our guests really seemed to enjoy themselves with the various forms of entertainment as evidenced by the amount of Polaroids that were taped in our guestbook and left for us to look at after the wedding,” said Jennifer. “I would like to think if we were guests at our own wedding, we would have had a great time with the entertainment options provided.”
At the end of cocktail hour, guests entered back into the same room where the ceremony was, but it had been completely transformed with the help of Elle M Events. There were now guest tables set with navy blue linens all around the room. Some tables had a similar floral arrangement with white and pink lilies and roses with greenery while some tables had a unique glass sphere with tulips wrapped around the inside. There was a head table with a greenery and floral garland that was placed in front of the ceremony arbor, which made a pretty backdrop.
The couple made their entrance and shared a first dance with one another and then their respective parents before sitting down to enjoy dinner. After dinner there was a few toasts, some emotional, some funny, and then dessert was served. Only it wasn’t cake it was one of our favorite unique desserts– donuts! There were trays upon towers upon platters of different flavored donuts. From the more adventurous flavors, like Texas Pete and pimento chees (yes, that’s one flavor) and strawberry basil, to the more classic flavors, like cinnamon sugar and vanilla bean.
Jennifer switched out her sparkly pink heels for some suede pink sneakers while John traded his brown leather dress shoes for blue leather Nikes and the couple hit the dance floor for the rest of the night. Even while all their guests headed outside for the bubble send off, they shared one last private dance together on the dance floor.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
