If you are looking for lots of greenery and flowers, something with a natural feeling and delicate details then a whimsical and garden-inspired wedding style is for you! Something that feels light and airy with romance all around, what could be better? Not much, if you ask us!
Venue
Obviously, the ideal setting for a garden wedding is a garden (duh!). If you don’t have the option for a garden venue, look for some place you can bring the garden feel to. Something with a blank slate that will allow you to bring the outdoors inside. As odd as it sounds, a place without carpeting is ideal; it feels more natural!
Natural greenery is a big bonus, whether that is outside or inside or unique lighting, like vintage chandeliers or twinkle lights, are other things to look for..
Flowers
Opt for muted colors, like lavender, blush or dusty blue. Pastels and subdued color schemes work best with a garden style. Let the greenery take centerstage by filling in with greenery anywhere and everywhere – from bouquets and centerpieces to the cake and signage. Tie off your bouquets with hanging ribbon for that floating, whimsical touch.
Dusty miller and peonies give off a major whimsical vibe. Or try succulents for a more natural garden feel.
Make a statement with a ceremony backdrop that is to die for. Hanging greenery and single blooms on drapery or an arbor with lush blooms and lots of greenery. Something that looks natural, like you would find it in a garden!
Continue that statement into your reception space. Wow with hanging installments of flower boxes or a greenery chandelier and transform your space into a natural beauty!
Décor
Create a light and airy backdrop with lots of drapery and lighting. Light colored drapery will immediately brighten up a space and twinkle lights add a romantic touch.
At place settings, think garden tea party. Have the full table setting with lots of different plates, silverware and stemware. Vintage mismatched patterned china would be a perfect whimsical addition to any garden wedding celebration.
And of course, candlelight! Nothing can make a room feel more romantic. Add lots of different styles. We love tapers to add a delicate detail!
Furniture
Add to that light and airy feeling and give your guests a place to lounge with a soft seating spot. Skip the contemporary furniture and go with something a little more fun, like a vintage velvet couch. Make the space cozier with rugs and accenting floral/greenery.
The use of natural tables, like farm tables, will create that natural feeling. Use mismatched chairs at the tables for a more whimsical feel but avoid anything that feels too rustic. We also love vintage buffets for accent tables like the cake table or escort card table.
Fashion and Beauty
As long as there is not too much glitz and glamour in the dress (although if that’s what you want, go for it!), anything will go. A-line silhouette is a bit airier feeling, but a ballgown could work, too!
Accent your bridal look with a greenery or floral crown, or a floral cluster in your hair. You could add a similar hair piece for your bridesmaids.
Mismatched bridesmaid’s dresses (with matching flower crowns!) create the perfect whimsical look. Consider adding in a patterned dress for the ultimate styled look.
