Whimsical Winter Wedding

Dakota + Alex | Dec 31, 2019

Whimsical winter wedding with blush and gold tones, neon signs and unicorn accents in Venice, Florida

On a very special New Year’s Eve, Dakota and Alex wrote another chapter in their love story when they tied the knot amongst loved ones, including whimsical four-legged friends.

“Dakota and Alex celebrated their New Year’s Eve wedding with all of their favorite things: friends, family and unicorns!” said the event planner of Jennifer Matteo Event Planning.

The morning of the wedding, Dakota took her bridal party’s breath away in a stunning, figure-sculpting gown with an ivory lace overlay and a strapless sweetheart neckline. She wore a pair of glamorous crystal drop earrings, deep mocha makeup and a beaded cathedral veil in her top knot bun.

Alex complemented his bride effortlessly in a sand-colored tailored suit, paired with a blush tie and boutonniere made from delicate baby’s breath. The arrangement looked lovely next to the classic bridal bouquet, filled with dusty rose, blush and cream peonies and garden roses.

Inside the church, the space was still outfitted in festive Christmas decor, including twinkling Christmas trees, wreaths, garland and a bounty of deep red poinsettias. There was a single long stem, white rose affixed to the end of each pew, and an arrangement of white hydrangeas at the beginning of the aisle.

Dakota walked gracefully and independently down the aisle, with her two precious flower girls trailing behind in foraged flower crowns. Her bridesmaids lined the altar in metallic rose gold gowns next to Alex, smiling ear-to-ear in eager anticipation.

The ceremony commenced with heartfelt messages and beautiful traditions, all tied together by the couple’s first kiss as newlyweds!

As their guests made their way to the tented reception site, the couple joined their wedding party in a luscious lawn under the overhang of mossy oak trees. They posed for group photos in the abundant natural light, and even captured a magical portrait session with their stunning white horse. Of course, the steed donned a unicorn horn and flower crown!

Under a gorgeous sailcloth tent, guests mixed and mingled as the couple made their grand entrance - after a fabulous outfit change. Alex sported a Bond-like black velvet suit, while Dakota stole the show in a lace mermaid gown with a tiered ruffle skirt. She topped it off with an embellished headband and a pair of metallic silver fringed cowboy boots.

Around the reception space, their unicorn theme came to life in a neon sign over the main bar reading, “The Sidwell’s,” as well as an ice sculpture surrounded by a table overflowing with jars of candy and unicorn-shaped sugar cookies.

They displayed a seating chart engraved on a gorgeous, antique framed mirror on a bed of white hydrangeas, and spotlighted “Celebrate!” on the side of the tent. In every corner, dazzling Christmas trees and unicorn figurines added whimsical wonder to the evening.

For the tablescapes, they used gold chiavari chairs and a mix of wooden farm tables and tables with metallic rose gold linens. Place settings featured gold floral chargers, layered with brushed gold and glass plates and a blush satin napkin. Mismatched centerpieces showcased petite bud arrangements and candlelight.

Toasts were given and the bouquet was tossed, followed by an epic dance party! A million tiny twinkling lights lit up the dance floor, and there were benches on the outskirts of the tent with plush faux fur pillows and throws for guests to rest their dancing feet.

In the middle of a white ornate gazebo, their three-tiered square wedding cake was hanging on a platter that dangled with crystals. The cake was topped with a unicorn figurine and floral garnishes that matched the clusters of hydrangeas and roses on the gazebo.

Under the night sky, dazzling fairy lights illuminated the tent where the newlyweds danced the night away with their friends and family.

Congratulations, Dakota and Alex!
