Natural and simple whimsical wedding with dusty and navy blue at the rustic Timberlake Earth Sanctuary in Whitsett, North Carolina
Katie and Dan officially met through mutual friends, although their paths had crossed many times, both working in the service industry. They started hanging out without their mutual friends around and it was as simple as that.
Five years and one day later, it was Christmas Day and the couple was opening presents with Katie’s son. Once everything was opened, her son handed her one final gift. It was a large box, so it didn’t even cross Katie’s mind that she might find a ring in there. Inside the large box was a smaller box, and inside that smaller box was a smaller box, and so on. Before she got to the last box, she noticed Dan and her son smiling at her and as soon as she opened the box and saw the ring, she knew why.
The low-key couple knew they wanted their wedding day to reflect their personalities. They kept the style simple and natural with a rustic feel but added a whimsically vintage touch to show off their artistic side. The soft greens, navy, champagne and light pink colors complemented their style perfectly.
“Our wedding started out with a few key words in mind: simple elegance, natural beauty, and full of love,” said the bride. “These words pretty much describe our every day as Dan and I are both low key but love artistically beautiful touches.”
The venue was a woodland wonderland that easily set the tone for their natural, rustic and simple style. With the use of some statement pieces, flowers and greenery they added the whimsical and vintage feel.
Katie spent the morning surrounded by her bridesmaids in matching silk floral robes as everyone got their hair and makeup done. While the ladies started to get dressed, the finishing touches were put on the ceremony space outside.
The ceremony site was set in the forest and felt magical. Tall trees surrounded the wooden benches that all faced a wooden arbor set up on a wooden stage. A single floral arrangement decorated the top left corner of the arbor and added the right amount of color and life to the space.
Just before guests began to arrive, Katie and Dan met for their first look. Adornment Photo found a secluded wooded area that was perfect for the private moment.
Dan stood there in his navy suit waiting for Katie to tap him on the shoulder. Once she did, he turned around and was speechless when he saw her in a gorgeous flower lace sleeve gown. The bell sleeve and train added the right touch of drama and a whimsical feeling to her look.
“Everything seemed so stressful until the first look,” told Katie. “Once Dan and I saw each other before the wedding, all of the worry and stress left us.”
After the calming moment, the couple went their separate ways until the ceremony.
Once all the guests took their seats, Dan and his groomsmen in matching light grey suits took their spots at the altar, quickly followed by the bridesmaids in mismatching navy and dusty blue dresses.
As the ceremony began, the tented and patio reception site was awaiting to be filled with guests. In the center of the tent two rectangular style family tables were set with dusty blue linens, while round guest tables in ivory linens filled the rest of the space. The wooden folding chairs added a rustic touch.
Down the center of the rectangular tables was a simple greenery runner with a few white blooms and rounded gold votive candle holders. In the center of the round tables were a single rustic bronze lantern surrounded by gold votives and greenery. It was simple, natural and on point with their style.
When the ceremony ended, before heading into the tent, guests gathered on the patio and grassy area to enjoy a few cocktails underneath the summer June sun. While their guests enjoyed a drink, the newlyweds snuck off into the woods for a few pictures at the most magical set up.
Set back in the wooded area was a dreamy little soft seating area. There was a loveseat, two ottoman poufs and a vintage chair all set on a swirly designed rug. A marble coffee table and two eclectic end tables rounded out the look. Centered above the coffee table was the most romantic crystal chandelier floating from the trees. Trailing behind the chandelier were also floating lanterns and Chinese lanterns to inspire that whimsical feeling.
Once the couple joined their guests, the party got started. Between the bouquet toss, garter removal and dancing, there wasn’t a dull moment.
The group took a break from dancing to cut the magical four-tiered flowery cake. There was a mix of fresh flowers and flowers drawn on with icing on the semi naked white cake.
After the cake was cut, the sun started to set, and the group spent the rest of the night dancing beneath the market lights. When it was time to call it a night, guests lined the patio with both sparklers and bubbles for one heck of a sendoff!
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.!
