Winter Rustic Glam

Dec 11, 2019

Winter rustic styled shoot with a soft color palette, gold accents and an abundance of florals at the Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, South Carolina

On a crisp winter day in South Carolina, a gorgeous structure comprised of Douglas Fir timbers and natural Tennessee fieldstone was transformed to set the mood for a rustic, glam styled shoot. An abundance of soft roses and greenery, paired with gold accents, created the most whimsical and romantic setting.

“I wanted to really capture the essence of the scenery, but also display the relationship of the maid of honor and the bride,” said the planner. “Almost as if a story is being told.”

For the bride, she wore a sleeveless champagne gown with gorgeous ivory lace overlay. The vintage inspired look was completed with a high neckline and a subtle mermaid silhouette, and the bride wore a bold plum lip for a fierce finishing touch.

“When it came to the look, I immediately knew I wanted their hair and makeup to be natural, but still have a dash of glam,” said the planner. “Both models have naturally curly hair, and I really wanted to showcase that.”

Her maid of honor was a vision next to her in an emerald green gown with a halter top and chic slit up the side. She wore a bold berry lip, strappy heels and gold drop earrings that brought out the warm color of her curls and skin tone.

“The amphitheater brought that rustic appeal and we really wanted the centerpieces and models to bring that pop of glam,” said the planner.

The bride and maid of honor each carried enchanting bouquets of deep red roses, carnations, cream hydrangeas, tulips, and lush sprays of eucalyptus and other greenery. With the gold accents in the décor, the floral arrangements brought a hint of softness that created a dreamy contrast.

To kick off the shoot, the ladies posed in a wooded pathway with an upholstered armchair made from rose-colored jacquard fabric—the planner’s favorite piece. Mystic, moody vibes were brought to life through the hazy clouds and bare trees surrounding them. As for the amphitheater itself, redwood detail and charming, sliding barn doors added a romantic touch.

“For this theme, bright colors wouldn’t really fit, so we collaborated together to add some reds, purples, greens, and gold to pull everything together,” said the planner.

Up on the stage, there was a round dining table set with a burgundy table cloth and dark amber Chiavari chairs. A statement floral centerpiece sat in a stunning, vintage gold base with white candles, surrounded by table settings with gold chargers, white dinner plates, gold flatware, white linen napkins and gold-rimmed glassware.

On the gray stone staircase leading up to the top of the structure, there was soft lilac fabric, sprays of eucalyptus, antique brass candle holders and geometric gold votive candles framing the space for a wedding cake that was a true work of art.

“All I gave her was my mood board and told her to ‘fulfill her heart’s desires’ when it came to the cake design,” the planner said of the cake designer. “When she brought it in that morning, all of us were blown away!”

The cake on display boasted three tiers, with a different design on each tier, and delicate floral garnishes. Each layer was a marble pattern in varying shades of rose, cream and berry with intricate gold leaf accents.

“My favorite part of the shoot was watching the models do their thing,” said the planner. “It was really something that amazed me because they literally just fell into place ... just seeing everyone in their element was just beautiful.”

After the last few shots were captured, the ladies took a seat at the table and clinked glasses to a day full of laughter and the celebration of effortlessly natural beauty.

“The one especially fun moment for me was seeing everyone’s reaction to the final look of the shoot ... we all looked like kids in a candy store!” said the planner. “We were screaming, laughing, and really in disbelief with how well it turned out, even though we had some major hiccups!”

Cheers to this creative team’s fabulous styled shoot!
