When snow was in the forecast, this photographer knew she wanted to take advantage of the weather and the beautiful ice princess-esque dress she had previously seen in a bridal shop. Katherine Elena Photography took her winter snow princess bride vision and made it a reality with the help of the perfect backdrop, the perfect dress, the perfect bouquet and of course, Mother Nature.
The night before the snow storm was expected, Madeline (the “bride”) stayed over at the photographer’s house so the two could wake up super early and head over to the venue before the snow was ruined by footprints and car slush.
The bridal look was kept simple with loose waves, pinned back on one side and soft, natural makeup. The dress was the real show stopper.
“I met the owner at the shop one day to take a look at some of the things she had, and she had this dress sitting on a mannequin and I couldn’t stop looking at it,” explained Katherine. “It was just stunning and I knew it was perfect for the snow.”
Grey in color and full of tulle, it popped against the snow dusted green landscape. The ballgown had a low cut V-neck grey bottom layer, with a long sleeve tulle top layer with some stitching detail that screams winter princess. There was a dusty greyish purple tone sash at the waist that separated the top from the full bottom with tulle that goes on for days. We couldn’t crush on this dress any harder if we tried.
The bouquet the “bride” carried was just the icing on top of the cake. It was a loose, very natural feeling bouquet with lots of greenery and dusty miller for that extra winter look. It had a few loose blooms in an ivory and magenta, purple tone. The bouquet was loosely tied with matching flowing ribbons.
Based on the pictures, you would have never known how cold it actually was outside because the bride looked so beautiful, but trust us, it was cold!
“Under the dress she had on long johns and winter boots and then in-between shots, she would put her coat back on,” the photographer told us. “I don’t think either of us could feel our hands by the end.”
Feeling in their hands or not, it was well worth it for how these pictures came out! Anyone else feeling like they need to channel their inner ice princess for a winter wedding? Because we certainly are!
