Wintry Boho Glam Wedding with a Doggy Ring Bearer

Wesley Rainey + Justin Watkins | Jan 6, 2018

Wesley and Justin met through family who thought that the two would be perfect for each other... and they were so right! For more than two years, Justin’s sister and one of her co-workers, a close family friend of Wesley, tried to connect the two but the timing was never right. Eventually, Justin reached out to Wesley via Facebook and, although he seemed like a nice guy, it still didn’t go anywhere. A flight cancellation for Justin at the Raleigh airport is what it took for the two to finally meet (fate!). Instead of driving all the way home to North Wilkesboro, Justin  contacted Wesley and asked if she’d like to go to dinner with him! They met at Cuban Revolution, a restaurant in Durham, and that first date was the start of an amazing relationship.

Their relationship grew and eventually it was time for Justin to plan the perfect proposal for the love of his life. He had just accepted a new job in Atlanta, Georgia, and asked Wesley to a nice dinner to “celebrate the new opportunity and her support  through it all.” Justin took Wesley back to Cuban Revolution, the place where it all began, and when they arrived, the host led the two upstairs to a private room where a solo sweetheart table was set up. After telling Wesley how much he loved and appreciated her, Justin dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him! He even hired a photographer to capture the moment and to make things even better, their family and friends were waiting on the ground floor of the restaurant to join in the engagement celebration!

It’s so surprise their winter wedding was beyond dreamy with its winter boho glam theme. Wesley used words like glam, romantic, elegant and inviting to describe her vision. The glamorous day came together with a warm color palette of gold, white, burgundy and blush.

The couple fell in love with the Le Méridien in uptown Charlotte for its modern accents and glittering chandeliers. The rich hues of the hotel paired perfectly with the warm color palette to bring the vision to life.

The couple wanted to bring the outside in so they incorporated winter white crepe myrtle branches as their ceremony backdrop. The aisle was lined with hanging lanterns and a white runner led the way as Wesley’s dad escorted her down the aisle to an excitedly waiting Justin. Wesley looked like a dream in her gorgeous gown with its glittering lace bodice and detachable overskirt. Justin was so handsome in his classic black tux paired with a burgundy and gold bowtie. The couple’s adorable tuxedo-clad dog, Watson, was the ring bearer and after the couple exchanged rings they jumped the broom to celebrate their union.

After saying “I do” the two changes outfits and made their way to the reception! The ballroom was awash in warm lighting, rich colors and glittering accents. The newlywed’s sweetheart table was stunning with is gold rosebud linen, lush greenery and rich hues added by the bride’s bouquet. Crepe myrtle branches carried over from the ceremony décor and centerpieces comprised of gold manzanita trees, mercury glass vases and lanterns filled the guest tables. Burgundy and winter white florals added a wintry romantic feel and paired beautifully with the gold plates and menus. Warm candlelight bounced beautifully off the gorgeous four-tiered cake in the background, and its metallic gold wash and gold-tipped burgundy flowers tied the entire bohemian glam theme together.

A burgundy and gold sign stating, “You mean the world to us, please sign our globe,” prompted guests to leave their well wishes for the happy couple on the fun white and gold globe that served as the couple’s guestbook.

Wesley and Justin’s love for each other was contagious and guests had so much fun celebrating their marriage. The perfect day ended with a sparkler exit into the winter night and the newlyweds were whisked away in a sleek jaguar with a “Just Married” sign tied to the back.

Wesley’s day was everything she could have dreamed of and her advice for those planning a wedding is:

“For the brides in the middle of wedding planning, hang in there! It is amazing how everything comes together. Just make sure you have a great and reliable team around you on the day of your wedding. I was able to be calm and relaxed on the day of, and completely unaware if anything was not going according to plan!”

Congratulations, Wesley and Justin!
